Tennessee is going NOWHERE with JG

I'm here. I expect him to either take a huge step next year with a physically better o-line or lose his job. I haven't given up on him, but next season will decide it all for him. He'll either be really good or the staff will take their lumps with a talented freshman...that's my guess. He has the physical tools and has shown flashes, so there's still reason to hope. You also can't question his commitment and effort. No sense bashing the kid in the meantime. It will all play out.

I’m still here.
I think the kid has a high ceiling. He needs to be coached up more, but has a great arm. I honestly believe if he diligently studies and is taught how to better read defenses, AND WE BUILD A LINE GOOD ENOUGH TO LET HIM ACTUALLY SEE DOWN THE FIELD, he will be just fine.
Urban Meyer wanted him too, he’s an a-hole but a good judge of talent.
JG had a great completion percentage even while literally running for his life. I believe a few games, including Vandy, he was likely not fit for duty, but sadly remained our best option to win.
I would love the next messianic QB to show up on signing day, but I won’t get my hopes up.
JG is serviceable, he just needs to better understand the game, he had true flashes of brilliance. Now we need to see if he can learn to make that the norm.
Good luck in the offseason JG!

Where do see this "great arm"

His long throws seem like a punt that got hung up in the wind

Stick to video games as your QB analysis is suspect
No, it was spot on, and you know it. You don’t like it, but you know it. And so do the other know nothing yahoos who lazily and reflexively kneejerk to QB play being the root of every problem. JG was bad yesterday, really bad....for maybe the 2nd or 3rd time all year long, despite playing behind the most incompetent OL I’ve ever seen in nearly 45 years of watching college football. The majority of the season, he was our best, most efficient offensive player despite some shortcomings that he still needs to improve. But in no way was he THE problem this year, with this team.

The problem with JG is simple. 3 OCs, he basically followed a Genius, has the skill set but not the smarts like Dobbs to read a defense, Add to it an under achieving OL.
Sad part is he was our only shot at QB.
Different systems and stable coaching he would have panned out....

That's because Radio has been there for 5 years. It's called continuity. Something we'll never have here if we continue to call for the firing of everyone every year. Now it has to improve or i'm all for it. There is no magic fix for this deal and the problems are multiple, so pointing a finger here or there isn't going to do it.
Why is,Vandy going 6-6 year after year a measuring stick for some of you. Vandy is trash, Mason isnt a great coach yet thats our "bar"? Pathetic.

The o-line had nothing to do with the under throws, late throws and simply holding the ball to long. I think JG would be a good QB behind a great o-line but unfortunately he will not be afforded that opportunity in his career here.
Oh really? Put a clock on Tua, and compare to JG. Some of you people are really clueless.

You left off that JG is the best we have on this roster and how he beat out Chryst. The SEc isn’t New Jersey Christian High School Football

Clueless

Maybe because it IS our bar? We are 0-3 in the last three seasons against them. Until w beat them, they are the better team. Period.

I admire his toughness, and his O-Line isn't great but there are glaring problems with JG's game. He does not recognize coverages well or get out of bad plays well. He can't process fast enough, the game is simply to fast for him in the SEC. If everything goes right he can make the play, but he doesn't have the presence or feel for the game to be a top flight SEC QB. I wish he was but he isn't and he isn't ever going to be. I hope Shrout can come in and take command, we need a quick thinker and one that feels the pressure and make plays when plays break down. Yesterday even with time JG's throws were in the air way to long, may as well been a jump ball. Keller is no better, neither is going to be able to win enough in the SEC. We have to get get depth at the LOS and we need a better QB. GBO!

I remember Vandy fans calling for Mason to be fired after his first game. It was a 30 point loss at home to Temple.

So the ball that was 10 yards under thrown to Calloway last night, that should have been thrown 2 seconds earlier was on the o-line?

The great ones feel that pressure and hit the check downs for positive yards. As i said earlier I think JG can be a good QB behind a great line but he will not have that chance here. He either needs to adapt to the poor line play or UT needs to move on to some one who can adapt.

An exception? I have been watching him play for 12 games this year and the kid can not read a defense. He eyes one player as a receiver and does not see other open receivers on the field.

Why do you not see him calling audibles? Is he capable?
Why do you not watch coaches shows, pruitt has pointed to several good audibles from JG, the coaches dont share the common trope that JG cant read defenses, and they know more about it than I do. If a doctor tells you you have cancer do you ignore it and say that he doesnt know what he is doing?
