I hope that Pruitt can convince a kid like Jalen Hurts to transfer into UT. I think that is a long shot given the status of the o-line and Hurts would be wanting to have a big season to get a shot at the next level.Who do you suggest at QB and please give reasons why
Maurer or Shrout? who knows until they get a chance. I'm glad Shrout was RS'd because a frosh with that OL would have been in ICU by now.I hope that Pruitt can convince a kid like Jalen Hurts to transfer into UT. Other than that I am not sure the answer at QB is currently on the roster. Maybe the Maurer kid comes in and wins the job but would we be better off with the growing pains of a freshman QB in the SEC? I doubt it so JG will probably be the starter next year but without major improvement he will be on the bench his senior year or on a different team.
Stick to video games as your QB analysis is suspectI still don't know how anyone is delusional enough to believe that our QB play would've magically been great with a different QB getting murdered behind our O-line. JG had a poor game; the fact that he didn't have 12 "poor games" behind that O-line is a miracle. He had 8 good or great games. 2 injured games. And 2 poor ones; and both of the poor games he constantly under attack.
Similar deal with Chandler and Jordan. They've had good games and bad games, but it's tough to be consistently good when you get no help from the OL.
The o-line had nothing to do with the under throws, late throws and simply holding the ball to long. I think JG would be a good QB behind a great o-line but unfortunately he will not be afforded that opportunity in his career here.I still don't know how anyone is delusional enough to believe that our QB play would've magically been great with a different QB getting murdered behind our O-line. Well I thought they should have given Shrout a shot last night since it would not have burned his RS. I think both will be given a shot to win the job in the spring if we do not get another grad transfer.Maurer or Shrout? who knows until they get a chance. Vandys 2019 is a stellar class at rivals number 48. One 4 star athelete and the rest 2-3 star.JG is not the QB we need for the next 2 years, but then again that OL is about as bad as I see. Vandy has no 5 star and very few 4 stars and they play extremely well together.
Are you any relationAnd to that one play I can list 12 that somebody whiffed on a block and got him nailed, quit trying to use an exception to paint it as the norm.
I have been reluctant to criticize JG or any other 18-22 year old out playing a game for our entertainment, but I think the constant hits he takes are taking a toll on him. I think the issues people have already mentioned have some validity but no one ever questioned his toughness or his willingness to stand in there to the last split second and take a hit. There have been a lot of vicious hits that he didn’t see coming and I think that one at the beginning of the Missouri game did some psychological damage. Since then, he is very skittish in the pocket and bails the second he sees someone break through. There were multiple balls thrown with him falling backwards or throwing off his back foot to get rid of it. All the long balls are rainbows. I am concerned that it has altered his best trait. Probably good the season is over so maybe he can forget about this one.
I fact he is little threat at all. Maybe part of it is the o-line, part of it is the receivers, or it's him. Either way, he is no threat and with the guy's around him the next two years, he won't become much of a threat. You can't point the finger at just one individual. Josh Dobbs isn't walking through that door folks. JG isn't a Kyler Murray, Josh Dobbs, or any other Dual threat QB i can think of. In fact he isn't dual threat at all.
