He made just as much progress as $75m Jimbo Fisher made at Texas A&M in his first season, which was a +1 improvement in wins, and made more progress than Moorehead did at MSU (0). And certainly more than Morris at Arkansas (-2). Jimbo and Moorehead took over programs with winning cultures and plenty of talent, yet neither were able to improve their team's record more than Pruitt did a UT, and Moorehead didn't improve his team's record at all, yet along with Mullen I was told all offseason what fantastic hires. Pruitt, a first year HC, is having to completely overhaul this program from the ground up and improved his team's winning record by 1 game, same as Fisher, and more than Moorehead. I think BVS keeps some of you from any sort of rational thinking.
Rational thinking is going to be needed to get through the next couple of years.

I don’t know enough about route concepts as I never played. But they also use Beasley in the middle of the field. I don’t know if it’s JG or Helton, but I am tired of seeing the wide side out pattern.

Basically how the cowboys would use dez a lot and now cooper and will they ask him to run a lot of 1 on 1 routes where you’re basically on your own and just have to beat your man. Most of the time they end up being 50-50 balls.

Here is a break down from a Dallas website:
“Instead of creating unique ways to get the receivers open in the passing game, Linehan has relegated the receivers to running a bevy of isolation routes, where route-running is at a premium. The Cowboys wide receiver crops (sans Cole Beasley) has struggled with route-running so far.”

If you watch like the rams, chiefs, patriots right now, they run a ton of bunch of sets where the WRs routes play off each other by using picks and clear outs. We do basically none of that.

If it's true that Pruitt has identified players that he doesn't want to be part of this team and let them know this either directly or indirectly by ignoring them and family members and continued to let them play and be part of this team, he made a terrible mistake. It's like firing an employee and giving them two weeks to find another job. Best case is you're going to get zero effort and giveadamn and worst case a bunch of saboteurs.

The rational thought is also that Pruitt has been telling recruits we are bad and likely to not make a bowl game. Thus, the games and outcomes do not affect what we have already been pitching just as Pruitt did after the game. Come in and play because playing time is definitely on the table. Look at Taylor and Thompson as prime examples.

That's where the ones that give two sh!ts take over.

Yes. As has been aired in the Crouch thread, even our own staff's poor mouthing was insufficient to fully encapsulate how far away we are from coming back. In other words, these guys suck at telling people how bad they suck. Doesn't get much suckier than that.

I think this is exactly why UTAD has not felt compelled to pony up big money and hire us a proven, winning program rebuilder staff. We are too loyal. We assume that a Bammer who has never been a head coach before is going to sign top recruiting classes and win championships here just because he's our coach. If UF had hired CJP and we'd wound up with Mullen, we would all be mocking their hire. Some posters here like to bash on our fanbase, but as I see it the only thing this program has going for it is the fanbase's loyalty and their passion for the memory of championship football.

Worked out fine for UGA. Just saying...

That’s on the coaches too man. It’s your job as a coach to motivate and hold a team together. They failed in that aspect.

Watching the game yesterday I reached the conclusion that the players did not want to win because they would have to endure 15 more practices and play in a "crappy" bowl game. That's not the coaches' fault unless they felt the same way.

SMH..you will never admit how bad this roster is/was no matter how much evidence of it is shoved in your face will you?

Roster was good enough to go to a bowl and win six. Problem with the roster is too many guys who did not want to continue to play football. greasy posted that many of the guys on the team wanted to be home around family and friends for Christmas instead of practicing for a "sorry ass bowl". If his nephew feels this way as well as many others then that is why we looked like we did the last two games. You are right in players like that being bad but the physical talent was there. I would take three wins next year with guys playing their guts out for 4 quarters than a POS taking our money and laying down.

That's what B. Johnson's uncle said but he said it with pride.

Gotcha. I have no problem doing that with a guy like Dez because he will win the 50/50 ball more often that not. You can’t do that with many of the rest of your receivers.

But we hardly ran slants, etc, which get the ball out quickly. Did it against USC and never saw it again. Once you hit a few of those, then you can fake it if the OL is giving more time. We didn’t get Ty in space the last two games either after 3 straight games with TD catches.

It's typically a safer route for a QB with very little OL protection because it takes longer for receivers to run routes into the middle of the field.

Very true. I will always remember my dad telling me that he always gave his employees the severance money and said clean out your desk now and be on your way. Not worth them hanging around.

Just tired of the constant dissection of why we suck and when, if ever, we get back to being competitive.

BVS is an epidemic right now. And the cure is 2-3 years away from being finished.

You want to know why we have been bad for the last 10+ years?

Because we've not been good at anything that involves running a football program in the SEC.... Top... To bottom.

You can bicker about what's in between. But a decade like we've been thru isn't because of just a couple things.

It's been a total team effort going back to 2007, involving anyone and everyone that's been associated with this football program.

And there is no way to know if this new group can or will fix it.

Don't know if I buy the whole "coaches didn't care about a bowl" spill or not, but I know one thing, they know better than anyone we need a roster flip in the worst way. If a bowl was going to take away from what they see as more valuable time they could be on the road recruiting, screw a bowl. I'm an ends justify the means type of guy, they need to do whatever they can do to cut the players that aren't going to "do it the right way". Run em off, get better ones in. They don't give you an eternity in this league, and they obviously know that. We need a top ten class filled with guys that can be ready to play against Georgia State.
