I'd say that going 5-7 and winning 2 SEC games against ranked teams does not qualify as stinking it up.

He beat a ranked SEC West team on the road for the first time since Fulmer was coaching. And with the worst talent I've seen on the field since the '70s.

KB--you must be a drinker because your posts just keep sinking down further and further into the mire.

CJP is the guy to get us to compete for the East Title and the SEC Title. It looks so bad this year because the players are actually that bad. It's a miracle that CJP was able to coach them to a 5-7 record--and was a play or two away from being 6-6 (we could have won that USCe game IMO).

Just what do you guys actually think our record would've been with CBJ and crew? I'm betting we would've been 2-10 or 3-9.

CJP and crew got two MAJOR bad breaks on the OL--losing Kennedy and Smith. He lost Flowers to a shoulder injury when he was showing some major improvement at the position of greatest need in our secondary--Safety.

This is as bad as it's gonna get under CJP. I am looking optimistically at recruiting--and yes, hoping that we actually sign a very good class if all of those committed stay committed.

WE NEED a QB--something that you cannot seem to understand. And I'm not saying that KC is better than JG---just that JG is absolutely terrible. I don't know ONE other SEC team who would have JG as their starting QB--NOT even KENTUCKY!

Not a drinker. Don’t drink unless it’s socially in moderation.

I couldn’t possibly disagree more with the drivel you just wrote. 2 “good wins” for Pruitt this year vs how bad, embarrassing losses? Any goodwill he built up after Auburn and Ky are long gone given 88-30 vs Mizzou and Vandy the last 2 weeks.

And this crap about JG....after all the ish we witnessed, at every position the entire season, you go straight (and incredibly lazily) at the one player who was easily our best, most consistent offensive player? JG was awful today, but the rest of the year he was easily our offensive MVP, nobody was anywhere close. And he’s the guy you go at? Lol. Come on 44, be better than that.

Oh my Lord in heaven. The butch jones affect is pouring over into this forum. Geez... I can’t believe we’ve become so PC that we don’t want to risk hurting the feelings of these grown A men. Seriously, I wish Pruitt WOULDVE called them out by name! “Don’t call them out or they won’t play hard!🥺” I swear, there’s an entire generation of “men” who can’t handle critique, criticism or instruction without getting offended and blaming someone else for why they are the way they are. Own your crap and get better at your job. That’s how you succeed in life.

Mike you know he said "some players". What is important is that THEY know who they are and THEY know he was talking about THEM. That is the important part. THEY know he threw them under the bus. Have you ever been on a team where something like this happened. When this happens you don't have your coaches nor the teams best interest at heart. It's just the way it is.

This is where you and I completely disagree.

THE TRUTH is that it is actually the OPPOSITE. He has his players' and his teams' BEST INTEREST at heart because he CARES enough to CORRECT THEM. It is actually WISE to allow players to feel shame about their pathetic performances. IF they don't have the work ethic to do the necessary things required to get better and perform in an acceptable manner--then they do not deserve their scholarship.

These guys have to comply with academic standards of performance, and they have athletic standards, too.

You're wasting your breath here, sir because the coaches and teachers in my life that earned my respect and admiration were always those who refused to encourage and cajole mediocrity in my performance. The man who taught me how to play baseball actually played with Willie McCovey and always said to out entire team: "boys, if I didn't care about you, I'd never say anything to correct you or motivate you to get better."

He never hesitated to correct us, but he also never hesitated to praise us, too!

CJP had done BOTH of those things for the VOLS this year.
You guys have chosen to forget what CJP said after the UGA game--how he praised his team in the loss for their resolve and refusal to give up and to keep fighting. Why doesn't CJP get any credit now for that? He's the same Coach that he's been all this year. And he's coaching the same way now that he did then.

I know that I'm too abrasive in my comments some times, but there's a couple of things that you seem to believe that I will NEVER accept.

1. It's NOT a LACK of caring concern for a coach to point out mistakes and failures in the performances of his players--it actually PROVES THAT HE CARES; and
2. It's NEVER acceptable TO RESENT the ONE in authority for poor performances in his subordinates. Losers do that.

You and those like you make a sport out of violating these two RULES. And that's just the way it is because, unlike the way our society has now trained a generation--they don't hand out participation trophies for just showing up in the real world.

Well this coach is trying that approach so I hope you’re happy with the results. Please continue to die on this hill of how real men should act while our team continues to lose to teams with less talent than us.

And what do you think Pruitt is gonna do with 75 players? Couldn’t do **** with what he had this year, got worse as they went along. Hell, OL and RBs still has no earthly idea who to block in game 12. Defense was horrific all throughout the year, never got better. It’s incredibly naive and pollyanish to believe that Pruitt will do **** with any marginal new players he may bring in. I’m 100% out on him until he 100% proves me wrong. The last 2 weeks completely erased any good will he might have earned for the Auburn and Kentucky wins for me. Zero faith that he’s the guy.

You're just a pathetic little man living a pathetic and resentful life. I'm sorry for you.

But I will try to mark this post and remind you of your comments in year 3 of CJP's tenure as the Head Ball Coach.

You play like crap, you get a crap bowl game. You get out what you pit in. Any kid that has that attitude don't deserve to wear Orange and White. Getting a free degree and their repayment is playing like a bunch of sissies and mailing it in.

We didn’t lose to lesser teams because he called them out. (Never by name, mind you.) We lost to lesser teams because we were outplayed AND outcoached. I’m not giving him a pass, but if the Rice tweet is correct, and based on the eyelball test it was, we have some serious character issues on this team and tbey need to be handled ASAP. And by the way, “dying on the hill” of how real men should act didn’t make any sense. May want to look up some new metaphors or euphemisms. 👊🏼

Butch recruited soft players, and he sure as heck didn’t recruit SEC caliber linemen. This is why players like Hurd left. It was a toxic situation and these coaches inherited this mess. Butch won a couple of seasons for 1 reason, Joshua Dobbs. He would have been exposed much sooner if it weren’t for Dobbs. Pruitt knew this from the start. That’s why he used the language he did to try and get a spark out of them. There are a couple of hard workers on this team, Juan Jennings being one of them. I would also give a nod to Bituli. It will take at least 3 recruiting classes before this team is relevent. I’m not going to hate on Pruitt like so many want to do. The players have to be accountable and they flat out laid some garbage on the field the past couple of weeks. No leaders, little heart, and no pride in learning to be the best.

Saban’s first Bama team never lost a game by more than 7 points. That included close losses to eventual national champions LSU and #2 UGA. That shows they were well coached and fought hard, even after losses and never gave up.

This tweet shows that players have quit on Pruitt. After listening to him bad mouth them on camera every chance he got they finally decided to say “screw this” and quit trying. It’s Pruitt’s job to get this team playing their best. Instead he just talks about how we won’t be good until we get better players.

Is it coincidence that maybe the best we’ve seen this OL play was the Kentucky game and that just happened to be the week that coach Fulmer supposedly worked with them?
GBO!!

Is
I dont understand why it can only be shared after the season is over.

It's been rumored since the Alabama game, many have thought that was the actual intent of what Pruitt was talking about them, recruiting and needing players who wanted to be here and do it the right way.

You're just stubbornly refusing to assign any credit to CJP for those 2 victories against Auburn on the road and an 11th ranked KY team in Knoxville.
Why? You're just being foolish...and acting like a spoiled brat child because his daddy told him he couldn't have another piece of cake.

Hell, Saban lost to ULM at home after beating 2 ranked teams earlier in the year in his first year at Bama. And he had a LOT MORE TALENT on that team than CJP does on this team.

I've REPEATEDLY SAID all year that we have pathetic LBs, Safeties, and OL. But I am willing to be more patient with true FR OL than I am with RS sophomore QBs. JG just doesn't have it. He has played very well and protected the ball in some games to be sure. But just how has he performed while we were still "in" the games we lost? Yes, he hasn't turned the ball over very much, but he has certainly UNDER-THROWN MANY receivers.

Getting a BETTER OL will only serve to HIGHLIGHT JG's deficiencies and make it clear. I know that you will just criticize me and call me names for stating the obvious, but you cannot just sweep away Tim Irwin's analysis of JG.

The truth is that we NEED a better OL and QB to get to the SEC championship. JG ain't the guy, and I'm gonna keep screaming it--and will definitely say that I told you so next year when our OL demonstrates marked improvement but JG doesn't.

You say that CJP has lost your confidence and that we have gotten worse....

But--we only lost to USCe by 3...and could've won with a little better defensive performance.

We beat KY at home because we made them one dimensional by stopping 26.

We couldn't make Mizzou or Vandy one-dimensional because they both have much better talent across the board than we do. It's just that simple.

You blame CJP for our lack of talent in those games...refuse to give him credit for beating two ranked teams...and claim that what I say is drivel.

SMDH.

You're completely clueless if you think that Mizzou and Vandy do not have better talent than us!!

He's a truth-teller! That's something that a bunch of you PC liberal, millennial wusses just can't understand.
And he's recruiting. Those elite HS players actually LIKE honesty in a coach, and not just a bunch of rah-rah crap!

CJP KNOWS how he has to get his OWN RECRUITS...guys who will submit to coaching and not going crying to mama every time coach chews his azz out for poor effort and performance. Those kind of guys become CHAMPIONS because they will do ANYTHING and pay any price to get BETTER!

And the "players who can get you in many different ways" don't exist on teams like Clemson and Alabama because the Head Coach has run their butts off!

I hope CJP cleans the excrement out this off-season.

I quoted this because I couldn't like it more than once..

Piss on players that can't take criticism, that come here and don't do what they've signed up for. I do not have one little bitty problem with a coach calling them out when they repeatedly suck and give bad effort. If they don't like it hit the damn road and make room for players that love the game and work their arses off to get better..

Scapegoat for poor coaching to buy another year and deflect blame.

Watching an argument develop that we don't have the talent to beat vandy is hilarious.
The was a poor coaching job. Doesn't mean he needs to be fired but he didnt do good in year one.
I mean Vandy was up on Florida 21-3...... but then again they got played hard by Tennessee State.......

Mike I simply am saying he could have moved players out without calling them out publicly. Especially if he needed them for that one year and I'll let it go at that.

I guess that he could've done that if he thought like you....but then he wouldn't be the DC on multiple NC teams and the HC at the University of Tennessee.

You cannot just bench 10-15 starters with 2 games left in the season. If you read the whole Twitter feed of Rice’s, you would understand that the players started loafing after the KY game because they did not want to go to a bowl and practice in December because they know they are gone after the season.
I am sorry we lost today, but Pruitt is cleaning house. He gave everyone the benefit of the doubt this year, but IMO the purge has begun. He knows what he is doing and BTW I was not a supporter of his hire until now.

I wasn't a supporter of his hire, but thought I would give him the benefit of the doubt. I am beginning to think my gut was right. If you got guys already clocked out, play the ones that want to be there. If you're going to get beat anyway by playing these losers, you really have nothing to lose.

It's not an attack, it's an accurate analysis of some dipstick trying to convince anyone that he knows more about UT football and Football players than our Head Ball Coach. Both he and you sound like women who stand around with critical and condescending comments like: "Well, that could've been handled better!"

So it was an appropriate rebuff and you guys prove your hypocrisy by not being able to accept from others what you are more than willing to do to our head football coach.

Then let them stay home. It is a privilege to represent the university and its fans. Regardless of the tier, a bowl game provides needed revenue for the university. This revenue helps build facilities and infrastructure to improve the program. If their not giving it their all, then we don't need them.

Is so much I know but I be holding back..U be suprise how these players really feel..U think those kids want to waist there time and play in a lousy ass bowl game or go home and relax and spend xmas break wit family?

Then give your f in scholarship back. You know how many kids want the opportunity to play that your nephew has. You know how much of our own money helps to provide their education as well as other sports at UT. If they quit on this then they will quit other jobs which playing D1 sports is. It’s his f in job. So he can enjoy all his Christmas time at home the rest of his life. His major league dad had to work his azz off to make it but his silver spoon son has had to endure the soft life. Tell him to turn in his gear and transfer to pussy U.
