Also only fans get emotional about the Missouri loss. That doesn’t affect recruits who are committed to Tennessee or thinking of coming to Tennessee anywhere near how it affects fans. Those kids who are listening bought into Pruitt’s pitch of “we’re going to suck this year but we’re going to get better and you can play right away.” Losing to Missouri is exactly what those kids were expecting to see.
Too many on here that claim to “follow recruiting” still have no idea how recruiting actually works...

Watching an OL get blasted doesn’t scare off top flight OL prospects. It shows them they can play and contribute early there.

Jimmy Haslam: "Lulz. Regular people are so dumb. Probably don't even have jobs. What would they know about coaching hires?"

Also Jimmy Haslam: "You know who we should interview for our organization's vacant head football coaching position? George Bush's former Secretary of State!"

Jimmy really thinks he made something of himself with all of his daddies money.

Jimmy is a proven idiot. Bizzare becaue Bill always seemed reasonable.

I don’t want to say a loss helps - but it certainly furthers the idea of “we need you” and “you’ll play early.”

Yea I agree that some struggles aren't always bad to show recruits they can help and play immediately. Especially when there are some good games thrown in there as well.

Tomorrow won't effect it either.

After seeing Chryst for a whole game Saturday you’re still beating this dead horse? The whole “Chryst can read the defense better than jg” argument should be dead. I believe that Chryst knows exactly who he is gonna throw the ball to when he breaks the huddle and he didn’t do anything to prove otherwise on Saturday. There were points we left on the field simply because he didn’t go through his progressions on the drive where we only got a fg. Go back and watch the drive and you’ll see. That pass to Jennings was a thing of beauty and he will throw a guy open but that doesn’t mean he can read a defense because if he could he would’ve never thrown those deep balls to Calloway. I’m not here to say that he’s not a better qb than jg, they both do things the other can’t do, but when it comes to reading a defense presnap, I don’t think either one has a clue

He also missed Wood-Anderson in the endzone when he was running around with his head down.

Random point:

Has anyone who has made fun of Kessling and the Vol Network (and this includes me) ever listened to other college radio networks?

On my Sirius XM they always use home teams radio networks and MAN! there are some God Awful announcers out there!!! I was just listening to the Iowa Nebraska call and the Iowa network forced me to have to punch myself in the nuts.

Not saying we shouldn’t criticize Kessling, but he is not nearly the worst out there. Not even close.
You really shouldn't punch yourself in the nuts while driving.

I would guess Keller’s issue is more mechanical than cognitive. The flip side is JG does have to figure out some of the mental aspect. As far as throwing receivers open he is pretty damn good at back shoulder throws. Which by definition, is throwing a receiver open, so I don’t know if he means leading a receiver or throwing away from contact.

Reading a lot of kids trending away from us, which is what I figured after Mizz... tomorrow is going to be huge. Not getting the feels on this class... hope I am wrong, but it is beginning to smell a lot like last year when there was a lot of hype around a bunch of high-tier recruits and we whiffed on almost all of them. We need guys like Wright.
We whiffed because the staff had two months to recruit them to UT, less than one month with most due to the early signing period. The staff now has had over a year to build those relationships.

Only one I think it affected was Crouch, other than that everyone else is still in play.

Oh look, its a recruits thread yet here we go with people turning it into a JG/KC thread. Sjt coming in thinking he knows what he is talking about. Awaitingawin slurping his kool aid. Good God. Can we not just let the Maurer thread be about Maurer?
The JG/Chryst debate has gone the same way as the MJ/Leviton debate. It’s over. Nothing to debate anymore. It’s JG and Jordan and there’s not reason to debate it anymore
