5-7 would still be slightly better than Butch's first year, even with the same win total. A road win as double digit underdogs plus a win over a near top-10 team is better than what we got in 2013, I think. It'd still be disappointing because losing to Vanderbilt is never not disappointing.

I don't see how you could say it would be any better with five games lost by more than 25 pts

I think the reason I would say it's better is by comparing the rosters.

Butch was gifted a lot of future NFL players on the O-line. Pruitt has a bunch of slaw there. The secondary has had to rely on two true freshmen to start all season. Butch had one in Cam Sutton, but otherwise he had a lot of experience there (I know we do at safety this year too, but none of our safeties are good in pass coverage). Our QB, WR, and RB positions are better than what Butch had, but I keep going back to that offensive line being absolute trash. Plus, the culture Butch left behind was much worse than the one he inherited.

I don't think there's a huge difference in 2013 and 2018 if we go 5-7, but I think there's at least a little better.

Meh, I wouldn’t really say it’s better. We also had a tougher schedule in 2013 imo. Finish top 10 in recruiting and going 5-7 isn’t all that awful imo

Yes

I say 6-6 is a success

I say 5-7 is a failure
Success, regardless; and only a fool will think differently. Very disappointing, yes; but, to consider it a "failure" is absurd and laughable.

Do you not realize that until we beat Auburn, this program had not truly won a meaningful game, since the Hail Mary at UGA...just to help you out, that's 2 yrs ago. Since that time, we lost the SEC East by losing to a SC team we should have beaten, and then lost out on the Sugar Bowl by losing to Vandy, then followed that up by 0-8 in the league last year. I don't think you fully understand what that meant, and the fallout from it.

We were the laughing stock of ALL of college football for 3+ yrs, and picked by many to be the worst team in the league AGAIN this year; yet, just last week, our HC was being seriously talked about for COY in the conference, after pulling off yet ANOTHER upset. Yes, the absolute smell of failure. 🙄

Pruitt already has 2 signature wins in his first 11 games...the likes of that hasn't been seen around here in decades. He has gotten every last ounce of what this team has in them, and he has done it against the absolute toughest schedule in college football. The teams that have beaten us this year has a combined record of 50-14; the teams we've beaten are 28-27, and before you think, 'big deal'...well, it is a big deal, considering the year before, the 4 teams we managed to beat we're a combined 17-30, and we should have never beaten GT.

Which brings us to Vandy, probably the better team; AFTER the gauntlet we have just ran (5 of the 6 teams that have beaten us are in the top 25, and Mizzou should be; 4 of the 6 are in the top 13; yet, here we are, 1 win away from finishing .500, and going to a bowl); AFTER losing our 2 best OLmen, and having to start 3 OLmen who weigh less than 300lbs...IN THE SEC! And this just the little bit I felt like wasting my time and typing; I have failed to mention all the countless and countless other things that has been a success and bolds well for the future.

Again, if we lose, yes, a disappointment; but, are you truly foolish enough to call it a failure?

Post from Rucker on 247 board...
Just like rick Barnes fixed basketball, Pruitt is going to fix football. It’s probably going to take until year 3 to see us compete and maybe win a championship but we will get there. Additionally, fans need to have faith in this coaching staff’s ability to identify talent. I remember a lot of people whining about how rick was “not recruiting well enough”.

It’s close. Butch played five final top 10 teams, including Auburn who ended up 2. UGA and Vandy ended up ranked too. 7 of the 12.

This year, we have played 6 ranked teams with 2/3 in the top 10.

Pruitt had better WR’s, QB, RB’s, TE’s. That 2013 team had Jaron Toney and Brent brewer as starters. 2013 was every bit as bad if not worse

Yes I guess I am fool then since you are going to call names. I think you might need to call others that to since they have said the same.

Damn right it would be a failure

This has been discussed many times, but Butch’s first roster was one of the worst I have ever seen. That one and Dooley’s first roster were probably the two worst in my lifetime. Beyond the OL, that roster was terrible.
