Amateur Hour Continues

If they both had magic powers that allowed them to create the world in their desired image, I would take Hillary's a thousand times over.

Retired Adm. William McRaven on Sunday stood by his previous statement that President Donald Trump's attacks on the news media represent "the greatest threat to democracy" after the President dismissed him as a "Hillary Clinton backer" in an interview that aired on Fox News.
"I did not back Hillary Clinton or anyone else," McRaven, who oversaw the operation that killed Osama bin Laden, told CNN. "I am a fan of President Obama and President George W. Bush, both of whom I worked for. I admire all presidents, regardless of their political party, who uphold the dignity of the office and who use that office to bring the nation together in challenging times."
"I stand by my comment that the President's attack on the media is the greatest threat to our democracy in my lifetime," McRaven said, referencing remarks he made about Trump last year."When you undermine the people's right to a free press and freedom of speech and expression, then you threaten the Constitution and all for which it stands."

I think he is an ex Navy Seal who served 37 years......and he is exactly right.

His years of admirable service(for which I thank him) do not mean his opinion holds more validity. I don't think Bush or Obama were "great" Presidents. I don't think Trump is a "great" President either. I do think he was a better choice than Hillary. I have no idea who McRaven liked, but he clearly states he didn't support Hillary, so maybe he doesn't think much of her either?

I wouldn't want to live in the dream world of either HRC or Trump, personally, but I think Hillary's would be a much bleaker place. Just think of all those suicides. ;)

He didn't say he loved Obama or Bush. He said "I am a fan" and that "I admire all presidents, regardless of their political party, who uphold the dignity of the office and who use that office to bring the nation together in challenging times."

Of course I will continue to believe that Trump is the devil incarnate (because he is), and you will continue to believe he is really no worse than previous presidents; and certainly better than Hillary would have been.
I guess all we can do is try to accept each other's opinion as valid and move on.

He's not the devil incarnate. He's an awful person (amoral) who never should have come close to being where he is today. If he was still doing his TV show I wouldn't care a bit about him.

So the rumors that he sold his tiny piece of a soul to the devil in exchange for Wisconsin and Michigan are false?

lol.....Trump is known worldwide as a moron. I guess sometimes you have to be on the outside to have perspective.

I agree, it's funny, but let's not forget that all President's make gaffes. I laughed at 57 states as well and thought, "What a moron!" People sometimes say stupid things. It's called being human.

Yes, everyone misspeaks. But not everyday. And then they don't have a brigade of red-hatted keyboardists flooding the internets to convince us that the dumb thing said was actually brilliant.

Has anyone here defended it and called it brilliant? If so, I missed it.

McRaven is a extremely interesting and intelligent person. He went through BUDS straight of ROTC, served at every command level in the SEALs and is one of the fathers of modern day special operations. Idk what Trump thought he was getting out of criticising him. McRaven is kind of a legend.

McRaven committed the unpardonable offense, he criticized Trump.

Earlier today, Trump called Rep. Adam Schiff "little Adam Schitt" in a tweet. I mean, this is a 72 year old man using an elementary school level of insult humor in a public statement. His immaturity and lack of impulse control is an embarrassment.

Cue the "I don't care what he says, I only care what he does" responses.
But really, what else can they say?
