If anyone is watching the WSU game right now and still says they are glad we didn't get Mike leach, I just don't know what to tell you. If the guy can put together this kind of team at WSU, he could have won big at Tennessee.
He was the only realistic prospect besides Pruitt I was ever excited about. It would seem about right that we had him hired and then changed our minds. I'm happy with Pruitt though. Too much what could have been will drive you mad.

They’re gonna beat us soundly I’m afriad. They’ve played longer together, have a better QB and OC, and a coach with some defensive merit. And as you said something to play for. In these instances, as of late, the other team gets exponentially more fired up than the Vols.
I'm not Pruitt's biggest fan, but he definitely has more defensive merit than Mason.

I love it when posters you’ve never seen make comments about losing all the commitments or some other over the top negative comment... or when you see “likes” from posters you’ve never seen, only on negative comments

Says a lot

Says there's a lot of dumbasses on VN, IMO.

I hope you didn’t waste your time like us.

I can’t figure this team out AT ALL. So inconsistent. Good game, horrible game, great game, bad game...
Watched 3 quarters before church and could see the handwriting so I checked the final score. No need to go back for the 4th Q. 3 2nd half completions against the 121st pass defense

Wow... that was actually not miscommunication and just THAT bad of a throw?

😒
I wonder if it was more miss reading the defense. Pruitt mentions the throw to JJ earlier, which he got somewhat jammed at the line, the throw before that the WR got jammed which caused Chryst to over throw him. Chryst probably decided where he was going with the ball pre-snap and anticipated the WR was gonna be held up at the line again(instead the DB showed press but didn’t try to jam him), which resulted in an awful throw

I mean, I guess no matter how you look at it, it was awful....... and I’m not even really sure what my point was lol

If Vandy wins, we have no chance next week. The refs won’t give us a chance to win. Guaranteed.
I don’t understand this kind of thinking. I mean, 9/11 was an inside job, and the refs love them some Bama, but they aren’t fixing a game between two irrelevant 5-6 teams playing for a bowl. Yeah we’ll probably have some of the worst grades SEC refs of the year for our game, and they will make some poor calls, but they aren’t fixing the games in some crazy anti-orange conspiracy.

How about the Vols go play like a bunch of men instead of whipped dogs and beat Vandy’s ****ing ass regardless of any call by a ref or play that goes against them?

Lol

I'd love to hear the rationale behind thinking the refs will want Vandy to win

If there is a conspiracy then the refs will want us to win. Lots more $ on the line if the Vols go bowling over Vandy.

Sometimes I wonder if some posters even think about Logic before posting

Leach at WSU
Year 1: 3-9
Year 2: 6-7
Year 3: 3-9
After a complete overhaul of their dumpster fire to players that fit his system, no matter their stars, only then does the winning begin.

TN doesn't allow for that. Pruitt will be lucky to get 4 years if he doesn't show much more progress than that (*relatively speaking) and he checks all of the 'culture' boxes.

Leach and his personality/demeanor?
Not blaming Leach but I feel strongly on how his time here would have played out also and it greatly differs from yours.

SECN destroying that call
Good. Someone needs to call this trash refereeing out. I’m sick of it. It is so obvious something happens behind the scenes that is causing the officiating to be biased. Between that and these trashy rules that no one even knows how to enforce them, the game of college football just isn’t fun anymore.

If the call on the field had been an incomplete pass, then there is a very slim chance I could understand that they would say not enough evidence to overturn. However, it was called a TD...you have to have video evidence that tells you without a doubt it wasn’t a catch to overturn it. The video shows catch, 2 feet down, ball tucked, butt on the ground before the ball even remotely moves. Trash! Yet, the SEC doesn’t even review the TD in the Auburn game that had ample video evidence that the ball was moving well before establishing himself in bounds with possession.

Boys, we better hope Coach Fulmer sends a huge duffle bag to whoever it needs to go to for Saturday’s game, or whatever it takes to get the refs to be biased towards us. Otherwise, we have no chance. If the refs are that biased last night for Vandy, then it will be exponentially worse with a bowl game on the line next week.

Dude, stop with this crap. The SEC doesn't give a **** whether Vandy goes to a bowl over UT.
Well, it’s pretty easy to argue after that overturned call last night against Ole Miss, that’s not completely true. The SEC at least wanted them to be one win away from bowl eligibility, when they play us, and not eliminated.

I have thought about it...a lot. A lot of these terrible calls are on reviewable plays. Did you watch the catch by Ole Miss that was overturned in OT? There’s no way you overturn that based on the evidence.

OTOH, next week I want to hear your thoughts about what you think will happen based on the spread and who money is being bet on the most. I disagree with a lot of stuff you try to debate on this board, however, I find it interesting how spot on you have been the last 2 weeks with who you think will win based on what Vegas is doing with the spread and money bet on each team. I am not a gambler so I’m not asking for advice for that. I’m just interested if your thought process with that continues to translate to who wins and loses.

People that are naive enough to think that the SEC doesn't try and influence games through officiating needs to watch Alabama play, anybody. By "assisting" in Vandy's win last night, they've assured another SEC bowl team. Had Vandy lost and the beat us next week, then that would have removed bo f2f h Vandy and Tennessee from receiving a bowl.

Well, I’ve beaten this dead horse too much but some year, some coach, Tennessee is going to have to allow for a bumpy ride to get out of this rut. We can’t keep firing coaches every 3 or so years on our way to glory.

And top 10 classes are great but Mizzou shows year in and year out that you can win at least at a modest level with top 40 classes if you develop players well. We can get top 20 classes almost without effort. Just let Pruitt (or some future coach after years of misery) keep get top 20 classes and keep developing them and let this program stabilize.

There really are no quick fixes. We see that right in front of our eyes and we struggle to believe it.

Some takeaways from X3:

1. Offensively, we seemingly had no plan other than chuck it up and hope for the best.

2. Defensively, we couldn’t tackle at all and could not get pressure on Lock at all.

3. Every break that went Mizzou’s way they capitalized 100%, which is a sign of a good team.

4. SEC officiating is so inconsistent it is maddening.

5. As an ‘08 UT grad that went to every home game during college and now a 5 consecutive year season ticket holder, I can say with some authority that the game experience in Neyland has declined dramatically since the mid 2000s. For starters, the Jumbotron operator(s) rarelt show replays for whatever reason. So key plays like targeting, you have no idea sitting in the stands what is happening. They’ve reduced the Jumbotron video size to provide more advertising space. They rarely show scores of other games on the stadium banners. The student section has had thousands of empty seats all season. Opposing team fans have bought up a lot of unsold seats on the UT home side. Fans left for the exits very quickly last night — like early third Q. Schools like UT want to complain that attendance is down, but between $5 hot chocolate, 15 minute bathroom waits, 20 minute stadium entrance waits, inability to see replays, inability to see scores of other games, and then on top of that the dismal performance on the field we’ve had the last couple years, it’s honestly amazing to me that we are still getting the 75-80k fans in Neyland every Saturday that we are getting (don’t fall for the fake news numbers you see, it’s been around 80k all year).

I agree.

My point was coaches need players that fit their style of play. We'll be lucky if our boosters show that kind of patience with any coach. No way they were going to with with a personality like Mike Leach.
