Ok. I’m already over this one. It’s getting much much easier to digest the losses for me these days (maybe I’m losing my Vol card).

Vandy game is a 50/50 crap shoot. Should be entertaining if nothing else.

Then basketball season!

I’ve seen enough this year to know these coaches can coach. Now if we lose to Vandy - - JG or no - my trust in them will definitely be shaken, but some of the individual improvements in less than a year have been impressive. Abernathy and Philips may wind up in the league. JG is a new QB. Darell Taylor starting to live up to his potential. Players almost always in positions to make plays - if they make some tackles on 3rd downs today we’re in this game til the end.

We need players, and our problems lie decisively in the trenches. Which unfortunately is the position which takes the longest to turnover as most FR and JUCOs O/DL Just aren’t ready to play day 1.

Well, the JG or Chryst argument is permanently dead now

You would hope... JG is one of the best in the league and I didn't even realize until today that 1/4th of his incompletions are drops. If we can get a solid line and some playmakers, he can be dangerously good.

KC is a game manager and not a very good one at that.

Even if Vandy gets us I still am with the coaches. I see no point in bailing on them. Nobody wants to come here and rebuild this mess (lest we forget last November). Just give them space.

I’m with you 100% ... but we should beat this Vandy team. They suck and have nothing to play for. We may not be very good either, but we have quite a bit to play for not even considering the bowl game. We must reassert ourselves as the best team in the state #1. If we lose to Vandy my expectations for next year will be to simply win 6 and make a bowl. When in reality we have one of the easiest schedules in over a decade next year and should win 8 and maybe pull an upset or two and get to 9 or even 10.

Maybe the most unbelievable thing all year is how many onside kicks we should’ve recovered and have yet to do so.

Regardless, I absolutely love how Pruitt is stressing that Maxim! He kno s the history of the game, and he seems fully bought in to the General’s Maxims.
No wonder as long as 27 is who you are hoping to get the kick we have no chance for he can not hold on to it anyway.

Tyson Helton is just the worst

I keep hearing people say this and I honestly couldn't disagree more. Today sucked, I'll give you that. But I really believe our offense is light-years more creative than it has been in years. I'm not looking at anything but I would guess we are better this year in just about every statistical category in the book than we were last year. With basically the same group of players.

Our oline has consistently been a disaster. Lost Trey Smith and Brandon Kennedy early on, in what was already a pretty patched together and thin unit. The fact that we have even seen serviceable games out of this offensive line feels like a miracle.

Give the guy some time. We've created tons of explosive plays through the air and on the ground. Way way more than last year. And he's done every single bit of it without the ability to physically impose our will on teams up front.

I think he's been not just ok but pretty dang good considering the circumstances and the completely new staff and players he's been working with. They will all continue to grow together and improve.

Sorry for the rant but the cries about playcalling every time we don't pick up a first down drive me insane. I know a lot of times you guys are just trying to "keep it real" or whatever but you've lost perspective. That ain't the problem.

Even though we only have 11 scholarship seniors, I bet we have no problem staying under 85 next year. I could see as many as 15 or so non-seniors transferring/going pro this off season.

Yeah, I think the same crew that’s been bashing Helton is the same crew that’s been calling for Chryst all season. We all saw how that played out. And like you said, anyone looking for problems on offense need look no further than that OL.

This Missouri program blows my mind. I just don’t get it.
Continuity builds trust. Development builds football players. Those two things build tough football teams. And someone over there has an eye for high potential QBs. Not that hard to figure out imo.

Soo...It is really hard to feel positive and confident after a beatdown like this. How many of you guys think we will win next week now?

I hope that we can rebound from this. We really need the bowl practices and exposure. It is big, especially for the EEs we may sign. The more practice we can get the new talent coming in, the better for next seasons chances.

Sucks to lose like this for the fans, but it’s worse for the players. They’ll come out fired up next week after getting embarrassed like this.

Welp... that could have gone better. We have consistently followed up a good game with a trash game this year. So now that the trash game is out of the way. Beat Vandy and we are bowling. This team NEEDS 15 extra practices for next year.
I agree, but I think the extra practices are bigger for incoming EE talent, than for the current roster...Nothing seems to help a lot of those guys.
