Did we turn a corner? (eating fried crow tonight)

Very good game overall and I am encouraged. I now think we can win one more and be bowl eligible.

I give the players and coaches a lot of credit for hanging in there and continuing to fight.

If we indeed turned a corner it means we have left one street for another. Until we see at least another game with this type of effort and execution I reserve to say we've made that turn yet. I hope we have, I see some evidence indicating we have but I can't be sure until we move down the line a little further.

Of the last 3, I thought Ky was the one to win for sure due to their offense. Mizzou will be a tough match up but Vandy will be tough also. Shurmur will play lights out vs Vols as he always does.
UK's defense shut Mizzo down lets hope the Vols can score alot.

This is my eat crow thread. JG played very well today. Looked alert and looked like the game slowed for him a little. I was NOT expecting this after SC and Charlotte.

Don't need to see KC. JG, GOOD GAME YOUNG MAN! Play this way against MO and Candy and I will be at the bowl game in December!

True he had a great game today. Today there was no need to try another QB. JG made an adjustment and it paid off. We’ve been waiting on him to slide up in the pocket and avoid the rush to extend plays. He did that very well today! Still needs to take some of those runs the defense gives him when they blitz. Hopefully they are working on that as well.

Would love to see this kind of game with at least moderate consistency now. So far its been good game bad game bad game good game bad game bad game good game....

Thanks for keeping this upbeat guys.

It's like some people can't stand anything positive . before the game it's we don't have a chance, after the win it's well i thought ky would be a win but the other 2 they are just to good.

I am enjoying my big plate of deep fried crow. The team came out fired up and ready to play. The defense was dominant. JG played good. What surprised me was how well the OL played against a stout DL and pass rush. So glad to see the running game get it going.

Did we turn a corner? Hard to say. UK is a one dimensional team. Missouri and Vandy are both very balanced teams. I think we made progress for sure. I hope the team that played today shows up against Missouri and Vandy. If they do, we have a good chance of winning both. Go Vols.

Yes seriously. We won tonight. Played good against auburn. Defense sucked against SC. Offense sucked against Charlotte. Defense was best tonight arguably all season. Offense was decent. So what’s your problem man? Can’t

Man 8-5 would feel good. Gotta stop drew lock.

No depth on either side of the ball. ENTIRELY new coaching staff. New schemes on both sides of the ball. Horrid OL. First time HC, DC and OC. 3rd S&C program in 3 years. Injuries. Do I need to go on?

This, all day long.

Agree. But why is it that even when JG plays well, people feel the need to bring KC into the convo? Or something like, well he played good but he should have done this or he still does that. Why not just acknowledge the good game and leave it?

No idea. Last time we played like this was vs Auburn and we all know what happened for the next 3 weeks after that.

I would hope we can beat Missouri and/or Vandy.

Missouri is at home and has an absolutely abhorrent defense this season. Should be able to score against them. Plus they have Dooley this year and no one has been hurt worse by that than Drew Lock.

Vandy is Vandy, it will be a defacto home game as all games are in Nashville and there's no way to argue that they have better talent than we do. They absolutely do not.

We played most snaps on defense with four guys with their hands in the dirt. CJP has designed this defense with what he has to work with. Much better than trying to hammer a square peg into a round hole

Nah, we should’ve lost the Florida game. They came in, punched us in the mouth and took the game from us....men vs boys. We play them 10 times this year we might find a way to eek out one win.

SCar on the other hand....definitely should’ve beaten that below average football team.

You must be watching Tim Tebow highlights with Urban Meyer pacing the sidelines if you believe that. Florida is an average team that took advantage of a team learning a new system. If we played Florida 10 times, I think it's 5-5. They are fortunate they didn't lose to Vandy and another one at home today to the same below average football team you are referencing in your post.

We have played a lot of solid teams this year making our weaknesses very visible. The D turned the corner just as we hit the gauntlet. The D game plan for KY was simple and easy for a yong D to execute. Play man, stuff the run, get the QB. They really got after it today and dominated.

Our O is turning the corner but only as the line progresses. I was surprised we were able to block KY so well. We have had flashes but this was the most complete game the oline has had. Good job. And I noticed we avoided hurting ourself with penalties. I want to apologize to DR for the things I said on his first motion penalty.

Thanks to the guys in orange for making my day!

Thanks for keeping this upbeat guys.

Last week after a lackluster performance against Charlotte, I openly criticized our players, the O-Line in particular, something that I am averse to doing. I disparaged them by referring to them as lazy.
Well this week the O-Line protected our QB Jarrett Guarantano well and opened some gaping holes for our RBs. They were bullies in the trenches, even manhandling Kentucky's front at times.

Crow never tasted so good. Bon appetit.
