Spent an hour and a half negotiating a new car for the wife. Didn’t get what I wanted and walked but managed to get it down 2000. Anyone got any tips on going back at it?
I’d look at other dealers too. It’s been 8 years, but I emailed 20+ Honda dealers in about a 200 mile radius, told them the specs I was looking for, and a max out the door price with all fees and taxes. Ended up getting a taker in Paducah, but paid $500 more for the color we preferred in Woodstock, GA. Still got our CRV for about $500 cheaper than the MSRP with all included. Also was the end of July so I had the end of the month and the end of the model year in my favor.

Funny part: the dealer in Spartanburg and Darrell Waltrip all but cussed me out.

I just went down an internet rabbit hole. His dad was in the Navy. Stationed in Italy once he saw a spaghetti western movie. His dad loved this one character so much he waited for the credits to roll to find out his real name. Dino Verde 😂
Nice. Hey wife, let's name the boy after a guy in a spaghetti western movie named Dino. Sounds like a winner. Dino = Doodoo IMO

I actually find humor in this. I don't have a problem with it. Especially when he tagged bruce.
Don’t care about it either. And anybody who wouldn’t want him back here calling plays is a fool. Top 5 offensive play caller in all of football at any level. If he were to give up on the HC gigs and go full time OC i’d hate for him to be on the other sideline.

I am not sure if this is the space for this (@Freak feel free to move) but if you are in Nashville this weekend, my brother is putting on several fundraisers for the Wounded Warrior Project. The second one is tonight at Tin Roof Broadway - The 5th Annual Southern Gentleman's Beard and Mustache Competition. Tomorrow night is a benefit concert at TinRoof. If you have some time and want to have some fun while giving back to those who served us selflessly, come out and join us! FB_IMG_1541853914127.jpg

Like you, I think 2020 may be our break out year. Some people on here are saying 6 years, and that could be right, but I don't think it will take that long.

I’m someone who believes it will take six years for us to get to stability and that we need to give Pruitt space. I think our trajectory could look something like this before we get to stability/elite status and we need to not panic in the middle years (our fans would crush pruitt in years 4 through 6 below):

Yr 1: 5-7
Yr 2: 8-5
Yr 3: 10-3
Yr 4: 7-6 (relying on youth; key players graduate)
Yr 5: 8-5 (key injuries derail us)
Yr 6: 11-2 (miss SEC championship by 1 game - loss to Florida on last second field goal)
Yr 7: 15-1 National champs (everyone returns, we are healthy, we catch breaks)
Yr 8: NCAA cancels football because we are so good they realize no one can compete with us.

I think many fans are expecting this and will call for Pruitt’s head if they don’t see this happening:
Yr 1: 7-6
Yr 2: 9-4
Yr 3: 11-3 (lost in SEC championship, win sugar bowl)
Yr 4: 12-2 (won SEC title; lost in first round of playoff)
Yr 5: 15-1 National champs

Because fans will call for Pruitt’s head when they don’t see the above happening, the next 10 or more years could look a lot like the last 10 or so years as we cycle through coach after coach after coach.

I mean, they weren’t being forced to take your business. What’s their deal?

Nice to see VNR up early and prognosticating, and sorry if this diminishes your fan fiction..

We'll know it when we see it.

Or when South Carolina fans show up to our stadium with "Keep Jeremy Pruitt" shirts.

Yeah end of month if they jump on you when you pull in the parking lot and want let you go, then they haven't meet their quota. And don't be afraid to leave they will call you.
I believe Freakonomics is where I read this. Used theory twice and works well. Couldn’t wait for year end with the wife’s vehicle so we went last day of May and walked in early to find vehicle we wanted. Left. Came back 30 minutes before closing and told salesperson we were out looking at vehicles all day. He stopped with deliberate tactics and got straight to business. He needed the sale and we needed a vehicle. We both won.

I bought my vehicle on December 31st 2015. Received nearly 10k off price of the 2015 model. They had to move it with a showroom full of 2016’s.

I’m not impulsive however. Same career since 2001. Same woman since 1996. Vol fan....enough said.

I don’t especially agree with your rate of progression, but agree with your view on how most fans expect linear progress that doesn’t always materialize.

Personally I think you shoot years 2-3 too high and year 4 too low. Beyond that, I don’t feel comfortable speculating. I need to see the dudes

I honestly don't expect either of these scenarios. I think that he will recruit well enough so that your Year 4 scenario of 7-6 is unlikely. We could have the occasional 8-5 year because of injuries but I think that the second scenario is more likely with the exception of NC in Year 5. I would take either of these scenarios, though, except your Year 8 one :)

Don't know what city/state you live in, but a friend of mine was planning on offering 20% less than sticker on a Accord. Before he could, the salesman gave him 25% off. Don't think $500 below sticker is a good deal. Like the other poster said be prepared to walk away. It may help you to let the salesman know you are interested in more than one brand of car, even though you are really not. Helped me a lot.
