Who else would have rioted?

Glad you have an opinion. Unfortunately, Freak won't let me tell you where to put it.
He is the king of over reaction.

There was a very small (very) group of people that wanted Schiano. There was substantial push back from a lot of people in the AD and influential people outside the AD once it slipped out. That actually happened before the media got it and some fans went and got their cardboard out. You can argue why the fans took the approach they did, 1. It wasn't the name hire everybody wanted. 2. They just really didn't like the idea of Schiano personally. The fact is, it was being handled by those that stood up and said "no" before that ever happened. If a certain group had not gotten involved the fan backlash at that stage wasn't going to stop Currie (the arm of Jimmy) from going forward. He was willing to take that to do what he was being told to do.
Schiano had no business at UT regardless of what he did or didn't do at PSU. He hasn't been a head coach since 13' in TB for a reason. That may or may not have anything to do with peoples opinion of him at PSU. But its still a fact.

Or just maybe OSU's administration and head football coach were exposed as frauds during the Zach Smith debacle and subsequent Meyer suspension. And just maybe they did not think it would be prudent to put Schiano at the reigns because of his involvement with the PSU scandal and the extra attention and subsequent inquiries that were going to occur.

But by all means blame it all on Tennessee fans.
OSU and Urban Meyer of all people have no business having their opinion held as anything but trash in regards to vouching for a coach.

What other fan base would have rioted over Greg schiano being hired to coach the football team?
We have to be champions of something.

I’m sure a few teams would’ve welcomed the hire, I’m just not sure who they are.
Ironically the team he is working for now would have rioted. Ohio State! You saw it with the whole Meyer fiasco.

There were several of us on here who brought up the fact of the deposition (well before Schiano Sunday) that hinted Schiano knew something at PSU. The UTAD could have done PR work on the front end and got ahead of the story but they threw a Gruden smokescreen and used a UT hater (Wolken) to do PR after the fact.

Haslam and Currie F'ed up the hire so bad.

Of course, Richard Travis (what an appropriate first name) blew up the shoddy work of the UTAD
I think that you mean Clay Travis.

I will say this regarding Schiano. Did any other schools line up to hire him? Anybody? Nope. Other schools were smart enough to not even entertain the idea. That's one reason I think that Haslam and Currie went after him. Schiano was so desperate for a HC job and they said that they wanted somebody with HC experience, and somebody they knew would be cheap. GS was even offered less of a salary than what Butch had when he left.

With the Gruden rumors, other schools snatching up better Marquee coaches, and GS's baggage, it is not surprising that our fan base got tired of hiring retread coaches out of the bargain basement and protested. Especially when it came out that Schiano was really the only coach we aggressively went after.

We, the fans, were finally fed up with the B.S. of Haslam and his cronies of the way that they were running the AD through boss politics and running our football program in the ground. And we raised our voices to be heard and we made a difference by scaring Currie into backing out of the hire.

And you better believe that Alabama, Florida, or Clemson fans would have raised Hell if they were in our shoes.

If you want to see a riot go to just about any town where they have just won a national championship. there weren't any cars burned or flipped here. It was a very tame protest.

Stick with what you know. I live close to College Park here in MD. They hate everything about PSU and knew all about GS before any of VN. My coworker graduated from there and still has contacts there. So no, they would not have wanted GS. Go Vols.

I think you misunderstood my answer. I answered Maryland wouldn't have wanted any part of him either.

I've got family in Annapolis, Crownsville.
Bless their hearts, they're crow fans too.

Go Vols & Bengals.

Sadly the fanbase only had one good "riot" in them, and they rolled over and presented their collective genitals in a show of unanimous submission when the next loser was foisted upon them.

It sounds to me like you speak as an outsider, not a fan? "Unanimous" wouldn't be the word I would have chosen, but that's me. JMO, of course.

You gotta get out more. That was a workmanlike job, but no record breaker. I wonder if there's a trolling hall of fame somewhere.

No way. He had VN following his cryptic messages on twitter, guessing who we was, he was doing drive-by’s that would create 100’s of responses and be referenced for days. That was a dynamite troll job.
