Eddie Glaude on MSNBC this morning said Republicans held on to the Senate because of "greed and deep-seated racism." You know, because only Senate voters are greedy and racist.

I love sports analogies, so I'll use one here. Last "season," the Democrats really disappointed and underachieved. They not only lost games they were expected to be competitive in, but they also lost games where they were favorites and supposed to win.

This year, they came back with an improved, more experienced roster and a schedule that was a little more favorable. They won everything they were expected to (House), won a couple games they weren't supposed to (couple of governorships, that House seat in Oklahoma), lost a couple games they were expected to lose (Donnelly, Heitkamp, McKaskill) and lost a couple games they had hopes for but weren't necessarily expected to win (Florida governor and Senate, Georgia governor).

Overall, they didn't have the magical, national title-winning run some hoped for (Blue Wave), but they did have a good showing, which was expected. Democrats did not get the repudiation of Trumpism they wanted. One area where I think there will be some disappointment on their side is in Florida. The Republican governor (Scott) was term-limited so that was there for the taking, but instead Scott goes over and takes a Senate seat from a Democrat while another Republican (DeSantis) holds onto the governorship. That one hurt, especially in a swing state like Florida.

Dems taking the house and Rs keeping Senate is not a bad result for the mid-terms. They will either compromise and get some things done (yeah fat freeking chance) or it will be gridlock and screeching for the next two years.

They are in echo chamber of excuses. And all the chronically disgruntled libertarians become doting yes men nodding in agreement.
Im not trying to goad you. I agree a lot with Libertarian positions.

Here's the problem. Even if Pelosi manages to regain the Speaker position (I think she's in for a fight) she won't be able to contain the crazy portion of the Party. And the media isn't going to do her any favors either. You know the first time someone brings an impeachment bill forward, the left and right leaning media is going to blast it on their headlines nonstop. Regardless if she wants the process to progress naturally and wait on Mueller, she cannot control the portion that will stop at nothing to see him removed for any reason.

Enjoy your two years. The actions of Democrats in the House will guarantee Trump a 2020 victory.

I am sure that in his teleprompter remarks Trump will do a minor victory lap re the Senate at the presser later today, and then promise to work with the Dems in the House on things like infrastructure and immigration.

But in the coming days he will not be able to help himself. Reports are that he is already blaming Ryan for losing the House. The tweets will flow. He is going to start lashing out at people in antagonistic fashion, as is his nature.

It's not like he was getting everything he wanted from the House anyway. Who cares if the Dems are in charge? It will give them a chance to show their true colors like they did in the Kavanaugh hearings. That can only be a plus.
