2018 Midterm Election Thread

These next 25-50 years are going to be very interesting as the country becomes collectively darker skinned, not because I expect the country to become more liberal (which it will initially), but because I expect POC to gradually become more conservative.

So it's okay for a white person to only like white people as long as he doesn't believe whites are superior? Are you not hearing how ridiculous that sounds?
...it's not ridiculous at all. (may be politically incorrect) As long as that white person is not motivated by an antagonistic sentiment toward people of other races and doesn't believe that his race is superior... and simply wants to associate with people he has the most in common with? Then that is definitely not racism. In fact, I would call that every day life for the majority of people in America.

POC is already such a wide definition that there's already a big spread of conservative to liberal ideology. African Americans are the most homogenized voting block in the country. I agree with you that will change and become more diverse.

1: a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race

Son, your elevator ain't reaching the top floor if you don't believe that would be decried as racism.

while I agree with this I do not believe the left buys into this sentiment.

racism - (posted earlier too) prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.

How about take every time somebody said "racist" at you and said "racial"...would it make you feel better? In the context of this conversation I see precious little merit in holding "racist" voting practices as being substantively different than "racially motivated". It seems a bit pedantic.

So you really believe it’s about “kinship” when blacks vote for representatives based on skin color and not because they dislike white people or will take any opportunity to revolt based on spite?

Part of me wants to see the Republicans lose so they can be reminded that they are basically doing nothing in DC and these are the consequences. The other part of me wants to see the democrats juuuuuuuust barely lose so I can watch liberal society engulf itself in flames.

I am ok with democrats winning seats, I think if they lose bigly we will see violence.

Dad, some people will decry anything... but there is nothing racist about simply preferring to associate with those who have the most in common with yourself - not just racially (but race matters) but socio-economically, education level and mutual interests.

Based on that definition the KKK is just a friendly organization with common views.

I dont mind either. I, unlike a lot of people, understand that in this game some people win, some people lose. But if you lose you can always try to win next time..instead of rampaging through the streets and looting.

They’ve wised up and are departing the plantation of chains and oppression, in droves.
