The QB Debate - post South Carolina (merged)

Yes. That makes all the losing worthwhile.

Its like you can't help but be negative, you have actually nothing invested in this team other than your Walmart T-Shirt and a few home games in in the double alphabet seats. These young men are busting their @$$ and placing their health behind playing on the field and all you have to say is a thoughtless and idiotic statement. You are nothing more than a pitiful example of today's fan, all these players ask is for you to be the kind of fan that supports them, not throw out hateful comments...........I'm embarrassed for you, find another team, it will only help UT.

I like JG but is one really good game considered an emergence?
he's been consistent most all year. the two things that stick out...the low# of INT's and the completion %. he's been efficient.

he's still got some issues mentally with the pre snap stuff and recognition.

but i dont' think he's done anything to warrant the level of consternation shown all year long about him.....

So what you are saying is that he hinges on average sec qb? If so I agree

I hear something.....

Its the loud collective force of mouth-breathing goobers typing, "wE sHOulD sTIlL stART KC"

Wow an article said Guarantano is emerging. We'll go 12-0 for sure next year!

From what we've seen, Chryst is better. He's gone in and scored on the more difficult teams that we've played this year.

yeah....that's about it. i'm not going to tell you he's been super or anything. he's been consistent and takes care of the ball. and when we've had opportunities, he's made more big plays than he has in the past.

and relatively speaking, that's an improvement...lol.

Yeah, I dont think he is that bad. My issue is he never really seems to take charge and lead a comeback. He played very good against auburn and about average in most others.

either way, i thought he played pretty well against USCe too.

the GA, FL and BAma games, well, he got crushed....and he flashed against WVU, but also got crushed alot.

he's not bad, agreed. and he certainly doesn't deserve, nor has he earned, a lot of the venom this discussion seems to generate.....

In this season, he has probably become one of my favorite ut quarterbacks of all time. If he survives through the season and leads them to a bowl victory, he will be in the mix. Never seen a tougher QB in my life. What a champ. I've never seen anyone take hits like that, on most his passes, and keep poppin' up, ready for the next play. If he had an even an average O-line and running game, we could really see what he could do. It makes me wonder what in two years, with a hopefully revamped Defense and decent O-line, can we really have a special beginning. Right now, no horses. But they're scrappy and I like that. JG is their leader.

well, the good news for you is that he does have two years left. so you should get to see him play with the benefit of improvements made in those areas. and then we'll see if JG can reach what many thing is a high ceiling.

The amount of animosity some "fans" on this forum show toward JG is just mind-boggling. If there has ever been anyone that believes in giving his all for Tennessee, it is JG. Each and every game, he takes it to heart as he slaps the sign heading out into the tunnel. Does he have areas he needs to improve upon? Absolutely, but that can be said for about 99.99% of the college QBs playing this year. Will he improve? With our current coaching staff, I have no doubt he will continue to improve. He has made tremendous strides this season. Will another QB take his starting spot next year? Possibly, but the coaches will decide that based on practice, skill sets, and leadership abilities.

There is a difference between being a fan and a fanatic. Our players need more fans and less fanatics.

JG deserves all the praise and credit in the world for accomplishing what he has with an Offensive Line that has been complete garbage the last 2 years.....anybody that has played organized football should be able to see this. I'm excited to see what he will be able to do in the next 2 years with at least a serviceable Offensive Line. We've got two really good tackles coming in next year. Stay Positive and Keep The Faith!

Sorry. I don’t think I’m going to do that. As long as there is still free speech I will say what I want to say. I didn’t say anything denigrating any player. My point, which obviously was too subtle for you, was no matter how much any one player has improved, the ultimate goal is to win the games. So if you’re happy having JG win the Heisman and the team go 4-8 again, you are welcome to it.
