The QB Debate - post South Carolina (merged)

KC threw passes that were all 5-10 yards through the air vs Bama. So I guess he didn't even attempt a pass against Bama. Lmao.

He threw the same type of passes second half vs Bama on more attempts with just as many drives trying to score as the first half before you claim they gave up.

His first two drives of the second we tried to score and he threw 7 passes in the two drives just like the two drives in the first.

He just didn't get a rac from a wr against a defense that hadnt adjusted yet like happens in the second quarter.

We also had a great passing game vs AUB.

KC has never beat a team that good or even ever hit 200 vs a good team.

6.7 career ypa.🙃

You Chryst agenda guys are funny. Lol

You need to watch the baba game again.
And you JG agenda guys are apparently comfortable with losing.

If you dislike KC that much play anybody else at QB but JG isn't it.

You saw the game so if you think throwing only 5 yard or less passes is a passing game then I guess we'll just disagree.
Chryst really hasn't been allowed to show us anything other than the 2nd qarter against bama and while that defense was responsible for putting JG out some still claim is was the 2nd team D (which is probably better than SC's D).
When KC has come into games it is usually with the backup running backs and linemen and the situation was protect the lead by running the ball.... And the 2nd half of Bama was exactly that.. slow it down as to not lose too bad.

I know you and others worship JG, and he has made strides especially with his throwing, but he just isn't it. Doesn't have the eye for playing QB. And I think playing KC at least some would go a long way to settle the issue.

It's not like giving KC, and or other QBs playing time is going to jeopardize our season especially when JG isn't show any leadership on the field.... and for that matter not sure any player out there is at this point.

Pruitt has mentioned multiple times about JG leadership! Not sure what you have been watching but JG is the leader of the offense without a doubt!

So wanting to play the best quarterback means that I want to lose?

Playing the best qb isn't winning so playing a worse qb will lead to wins?

No dislike. He isn't the best option.

JG the toughest QB in the SEC would cry like a baby if they started Chryst ahead of him this weekend. If your going to rest your running backs then rest your beat up QB. But if Chryst did start and excelled the JG supporters would come up with all kinds of excuses for his performance.

I feel sorry for the mods. I don't have to read every word of every post in this thread. Hopefully for the mods sake, its not the same points made over and over. And over.

So according to these numbers JG had a 71% completion rate vs SC but 2/3rds < 5 yards?? He only had 8 pass completions > 10 yards?

And KC rode the pine the entire game?

If this is acceptable O production to our rookie HC Pruitt then we’re in trouble over the last 3 SEC games.

Need a way to get BOTH JG and KC involved with meaningful minutes down the stretch and stop this counterproductive “either/or” game.

We saw what KC can do in relief vs Bama. Not using KC vs SC may have cost us a winnable SEC E road game. Rookie HC mistake IMO.

We’ve got 4 games left and we need WINS. We’re out of options on D. Just slap a tourniquet on it and stem the bleeding. We’ve got a big option left on O and we need to use it. Pruitt should turn his attention to making that happen. Let Helton design the packages for both QBs and call the plays.
Dude, just move on. Let it go. The coaches WILL NOT start KC. They like JG more.

This doesn't tell us how far the pass went just how far the play went which includes pass and run.
Several of those passes were actually behind the line of scrimmage,,,, screens??
And at least 2 of the incomplete passes were overthrows to wide open receivers with no pressure on JG at all.

The reason for short passes was to make up for JG's inability to read the D, pick up the Blitz, get set, and get rid of the ball.
The added pressure the coaches put on JG last week to get rid of it quicker also created 2 bad habits that he now has to deal with.... Squatting and Happy Feet.

If KC plays we win the game... but the koolaid drinkers will not admit it and their heads will pop from just reading this.
Wait for it.......
If you're so facking good at evaluating QBs, why aren't you working for a team somewhere? It is FAR more likely that you are wrong and the coaches are right. They obviously think JG is better. They are NOT gonna start KC over JG. Just deal with it and move along.

KC isn't gonna come in and score more points than JG can... and he DAMN sure isnt gonna start playing and somehow fix the REAL problem we had against SC. Our Defense.

JG is a terrible down field passer and there is way to not see that. Every deep ball he throws the receiver is stopping to catch because he does not have the arm or talent to make the PROPER throw. Chryst's throw to JJ and Byrd were perfect in stride throws. Something we have not seen from JG.
Lol... That's ridiculous. Most of the deep balls we're throwing are back shoulder throws because Callaway and Jennings can't run by people, but they're physical and can outfight DBs.

Chryst threw one against Alabama after JG went out.

JG can't read blitzes doubt if he knows about back shoulder throws.

like anti-JG guys do now

Your words are jibberish man. I played QB and I have stated my point about the difference between the two looking through a QB’s eyes. Replay the Bama game and you will see the difference between ball placement and proper drop backs. When you learn that, come back and talk. Otherwise, keep sipping on your fruity drinks and watching cartoons.

Jibberish? That's funny. Qb in jr pro don't count big dog.. heck even in high school. If it did another 30,000 high school Qb's across the country could pretend they know more about who is a better Qb then one of the most highly respected college coaches does. Does that sound logical? No it doesn't. But hey maybe you should put in your resume with Pruitt since you're clearly the Qb guru. The only people screaming for Chryst to enter the game are FANS. Look at meaningful ex vols as well as other analyst who have commented on the Qb situation. None of them are as harsh on JG or as pro Chryst as our delusional fan base. The same fan base that talks themselves into believing we can win the East every year as the season approaches. To be blunt.. you honestly don't know what you're talking about or what you're watching. You take 2 good throws Chryst made and appoint him as the clear top Qb on this team. Seriously just stop it. There is a reason those closest to the situation since the beginning of fall practice have said it was never a competition.

Actually I was a College QB. So yes I do know what I’m talking about. Unlike you. You never heard me say anything about being a guru or knowing more than anyone else. All I pointed out was the obvious regarding the drop back and release of the football. That is something every QB knows. If JG could get that down then he would be a heck of a QB. Oh, you forgot that KC was the starting QB at Stanford which is a pass happy school. He won games and then got hurt and someone else took over. That happens all the time. So yes, he has more experience and a better view of the position. The only reason he is starting is because of his running ability. Pruitt even said that. He also said that he needs to improve on his timing which is what I’m saying. Come back and talk when you know something about the position.

I'm sorry but that is the craziest thing I have ever read on this site.... Callaway and Jennings constantly get 50/50 balls thrown to them because JG can't throw it to them in stride or throw them open.

Go watch the tape before you post some more nonsense like that. That's a grand excuse.

The one silver lining in the Tennessee season: The emergence of Jarrett Guarantano
The losses keep piling up in Knoxville, but there is hope on the horizon. Specifically, there’s hope with QB Jarrett Guarantano. “That is one tough SOB,” one SEC coach said. “I don’t know how, if you’re playing on that team, you see that kid giving everything and don’t say, yeah, I gotta play like that, too.” In four games since an absolutely horrific performance against Florida (who on Tennessee didn’t play poorly against the Gators?), Guarantano has completed 65 percent of his passes for 741 yards, with 6 TDs and 0 INTs. This despite poor pass protection (10 sacks, 8 hurries, countless knockdowns). “If I’m (Tennessee coach) Jeremy (Pruitt), I’m pretty excited about the guy under center,” the SEC coach continued. “He may not be you’re a big-time (NFL) first-rounder, but he has talent and you cannot intimidate him. He does not get shaken.”
