Using Rob Lewis' logic, we shouldn't expect to win another SEC game this year-- because the Vols will be underdogs in all three of them and we're a road dog at Vandy. So according to Rob, we should expect to go 4-8 and be content, because that's what we're "supposed to" do. Or maybe he thinks we should be thrilled because we got a "large upset" at Auburn to save us from going 3-9, like we were "supposed to" do.
I have a hard time finding an argument against this point of view.

Disagree. This is the point where JG took over last year and QD left
QD transferred after the season. It was obvious that JG would be starting the next season. There’s no such specter for Guarantano.

I'm not a JG hater. Let's get that out of the way first. But your theory is putting a lot of trust in the mindset of a 19 or 20 y/o kid (which if they are playing Division I football at a power 5 school have been told how great they are since age 4). And a lot of faith in the same media that thought Brohm was our next coach haha.

Did anybody but Hyams really jump on the Brohm thing? And idk that I’d call what I said a theory. I just don’t think it’s a given like many here assume it is that JG would transfer if benched.

There is a whole lot the media doesn't know. I know for a fact that certain WR's aren't too keen on JG from a trust level. Now when he performs like he did at Auburn those things are a lot quieter. If he costs us a game, those things may get more exposure. I personally don't think JG has cost us a game this year. At least not all the blame could go on him.

I’m not trying to say the media knows everything. But I do think there’d have been some smoke by now if the only thing separating the two QBs was that one may transfer. The one thing all of the media, even outlets that often disagree with one another, has been consistent on since camp opened is that they’ve heard/seen nothing to make them think KC is/should be the guy.

As for WRs, that wouldn’t surprise me at all. The offense isn’t good, we’ve been sporadic passing, and there are some WRs this year who’ve really seen their snaps drop off. I’d be worried if all of our guys were content.

I'm not saying it's wrong for Pruitt to consider that into his decision either. It's not like starting KC can win us the SEC East and starting JG would get us to 4-8 or 5-7. So my opinion is he'd be a fool not to consider how it affects the program down the road.
I’m not saying he’s not considering that. I just think those assuming that’s all that separates the two QBs are reaching. JG isn’t a great QB. He’s better better than KC. If KC has anything to offer other than being an ok backup, a team somewhere would have brought him in to be their guy. Same with QD. Both seem like betas.

That and there were a few passes that I think showed his ribs were still bothering him. They were far more errant than he usually does. What I really want to know is if we have anyone that's going to step up on defense these last few games. What has happened to Kirkland?
The under throw to Palmer made me wonder about his ribs.

Update for those interested on my dad.

He's had a really good day. He slept really well last night. His mood has been much improved as has his breathing. He walked quite a bit today. He and I went for a walk and we got lost and it turned into a longer walk than we had planned. He worked with PT on the best ways to get up and down out of bed and a chair. He's been eating well. Dr. Said he was good to go home today but with having to deal with my mom, he thought it best he stay one more night. Thanks again to all of you for your thoughts and prayers.

Excellent counter argument.

Just saying. There's only so much bitching we can do. Like, someone yesterday was talking about being some "sheep" (ikr) because he thought JG lost us the game or whatever. Like, we're fans, even if we're "woke" (I know I know), we're... fans.. Really nothing for us to do. Gonna #BoycottNeyland again? Gimme a break.

OTHer than one against Utep i think maybe etsu . He’s consistently underthrew/made the WR wait or comeback on would be TD throws. That and failure to move within the pocket / extend plays is my biggest knock on him.
Didn't appear that way against Auburn. His was dropping them in on a high arching ball. The throw to Palmer wasn't the same type of throw, more of a low trajectory that just didn't have the juice on it. Made me wonder if the body blows from Bama were lingering.

Who said the decision was made now? It was made before the first game.
2 things here:

1. This is total speculation with no supporting evidence.

2. If that was really the case, why not give KC the start last week when it was obvious JG was hampered by injury? We’ve seen the staff change starters all over the field on a weekly basis, but QB has been on of the few spots they’ve only given the backup a run in garbage time or because of injury.

So it seems like either there’s a legitimate reason they don’t want to play KC over JG, or they’re bowtowing to a players who’s been average-ish all season.

I’m leaning towards the former, because nothing in KC’s career has shown him to be any better than the QB play we’ve see this season. But maybe you’re right and this is a foreboding sign for this staff. Year one is mighty early to be handing out PT to a lesser player because of flight risks.

I thought he lacked a bit of his usual zip on some intermediate throws as well. I think it’s pretty clear the hits have caught up with him.
