The QB Debate - post South Carolina (merged)

What about a career 55% passer makes you think he is some master of the short pass game?

Because he had one good quarter when the defense had slacked off and we made some adjustments?

You didn't see the 4/8 to end the game?
short game? the heck you talkin bout......! KC should replace cam newton, pat mahommes, deshaun watson, and russell wilson.

Do you know what accuracy points, yards and ratios give you... loses in the SEC. I would take a QB that knows how to win minus the “stats and numbers” all day.
so u can just win? no accuracy needed? ****, well play the guy who throws the ball all over neyland stadium, except to the wrs then....smmfh

JG does a lot of good things, but at the same time he does things that add up to losing ball games. I’m talking simple things. The missed check downs, holding the ball way too long, overthrowing an easy out route that would be a first down. The best drive we had yesterday was when he would throw underneath on a crossing route or check it down. He is very indecisive and has to improve that part of his game immensely.

This is what he looked like on the last play. My point as to why it doesn’t matter if he has 300 yards passing and 10 TD’s in a game, when it matters a veteran QB will not do this. He clearly had green grass in front of him for 15 yards but decided to dance instead of run. It cost us the game folks.

I agree with what your are saying. Part of us are looking at the QB and some of Pruitts decisions like that end of the first half debacle and that with good QB play we could have won even with our poor poor defensive play in the 2nd half. Never should you turn down a chance to score points if the opportunity presents itself and after Pruitt had did that all year (and we gave him high marks for it) he had the lead and chose to kneel. Now that is when things really headed south.

nevermind JG was 70% or better doing just that.....but continue with stupidity

We will be in trouble if JG is the qb next year. New young oline, and the slowest release in football.....gonna be rough. JG has had 1 season on the bench and almost 2 starting.....if he hasn't figured it out by now I don't think he ever will.

Preach it brother

Haha who cares who the QB is anymore. What is fact is that last sack was all JG lol. JT Shrout 2019!

I was able to watch most of the UT game and I thought JG played the best game of his career. Many on this board also destroyed Dobbs while most of us around the SEC thought he was an outstanding QB. I’m not saying JG is as good as Dobbs, but I am saying his play versus SC was somewhere between good and very good.

KC needs to start and play the entire Charlotte game. Should have played last night. I've had enough of JG. I would like to know what the total yardage was last night from LOS to point of catch. Betting less than 25 yrs.
You mean like KC versus Bama?

As I have asked before, why couldnt we win more than 5 games in 2012 with superior QB play and a much better OL? Can someone please explain?

Sack was his fault, I agree. But the loss was on the defense. It should have never came down to a last try to win. We should have been ahead by 2 scores.

We are rebuilding what good does it do to start a one and done QB? Get the kid who is here next year the reps, painful though they be.

Doesn’t change the fact KC should’ve gotten some playing time. The gameplan clearly was intermediate routes and screens. That’s KC’s strength.
I’ve supported JG all year and will continue to do so but I gotta agree here. Chryst earned the right for another opportunity last week.

Did you happen to see SC playing 3 deep cover? Those throws weren't there. JG did not beat us, our defense did.
Yep... I sat there in the stadium and watched it all night. That's part of the reason we were able to run it a little. SC's gameplan was clearly to make us drive the field and not give up chunk plays. On our last two snaps, they were in Cover 4.

Anyone think with the way the defense was playing that we weren't trying to score fast and slow the game down? Just a question

Im just gonna say it.... Does anyone feel like all this hate, similar to the Dobbs hate, has to do with his race? It feels that way at times.

That wouldnt surprise me in the least. I think JP wanted to get the run game going regardless. SC pretty much took the deep ball away with coverage.

You cant read.

I said starting the year. Which would not include this game. He was over 9 ypa most of the year. 8.9 before the SC game. He was over 64%.

People complained he held the ball too long even though we were completing the deepest passes in years.

Those are facts.

Then this game he runs the same quick passes as KC last week and is 29/37.

Now people can't cry about accuracy or holding the ball so they find something else to whine about. Now it's short passes.

Either the pass is long and the ball is held or it's quick and short. People complain about both when it comes to JG. They aren't being realistic when it comes to him. No qb throws deep passes that get off in 1.5 seconds.

Has JG ever thrown one away?

Sure seems like he eats it on every QB pressure.

Taking a beating, and killing drives with big losses on sacks, is holding the ball too long.
