The Official Tennessee @ South Carolina Game Thread, 7:30 PM ET, SEC Network

I guess it's part of being a fan but I wish I didn't get as emotionally invested in our games. I love the vols, but sometimes they break my heart. The last ten years have been tough but I'm holding out hope that this year will the last of being abysmal. I hope I don't look back and feel foolish for being optimistic.

I didn't like it, but dont think it was a big deal.

to me, that had no bearing on our bad play in the second half. getting gashed on defense, and some bad penalties hurt us as well. imo, we scored enough to win if we had a good game defensively. but too many big plays given up and missed assignments
If we don't try to score on every possession, we can lose to anyone!!! CJP this is not Alabama, you had the lead run some safe plays and see if you can get in FG range!!!!

Safeties and corners took too many bad angles. LB's did ok. But they had to adjust, they were just running into lineman ass the first quarter.

I agree. Their run game was the key. Bentley was frustrated as hell but when they got their run game going it opened up the deep ball for him. EVERY game is won and lost on the line.

Some of you are the biggest whiners. Should’ve won the game...but the same ones here who used to bitch about kicking FGs with Butch are on Pruitt’s ass tonight. Those of you saying this is Butch 2.0 are clueless.
Look man. Going for it close to the red zone on the opponent's end of the field when you need TDs is refreshing. Trying to convert on 4th and long near midfield when you have a good punter and the opponent's QB just got squashed, and it's a tie game in the 4th quarter, is reckless at best and coaching malpractice at worst.

Regretably I didn't get to see much of this game, but I've seen quite a few in the near past. JG is a good college QB, just like at many other schools. He is not an exceptional CFB QB, questionable NFL QB unless with the right system/coach and a project at best. Unfortunately I will lean with other posters on this board, he doesn't read defenses well at all and, IMO, looses situational awareness too often for someone in a D1 program for this long. He'd be fine with a good OL and a good DL....like Bama. But hell, look at Bama at this point, how many starting QBs have they got in the NFL in the past 6-8 years? I'm going with 0. Were at the point where we have to have a QB carry us a bit right now, JG ain't it. And, not excusing the OL or DL, But they may have an excuse, their weekend play not being one of them.

I'll be honest. I don't want to hear the whole "we need more players" stuff tonight. We don't have the players to compete with Bama or Georgia, but it wasn't lack of talent that cost us tonight.

Plus, how many times can players be told they suck before they just start believing it? He needs to be careful with that.

There’s plenty of blame to throw around for blowing this one and frankly it’s inexcusable.
