Most TN fans still think it’s the mid 90s. Wake up
No, no we don't. We just disagree with you, that's all. I know you probably find that hard to fathom, considering you likely believe you're always right, and everyone should always agree with you. To this point, if life has worked out for you, with you thinking this way, stick around, humility is on its way to slap you across the face.

With regards to the third Saturday in October being a rivalry:

It’s always been a streaky rivalry. And that’s probably because the dominant team in the rivalry has typically been the dominant team in the south. Obviously wasn’t there but the 1928 game should be a game every UT fan knows about.

1982 was legendary with the worlds fair. 1984 was probably my favorite UT game of all time. Scoring 15 points in the final 4 minutes.

All of the mid 90s games with Peyton were incredible.

The third Saturday in October will be a rivalry forever even if we lose the next 20. It’s the best 2 programs in the history of the south. Anyone who says it isn’t a rivalry has extreme recency bias and a lack of historical context.

Speak on, my man.

So does Bama not have any rivals then? Because the Tennessee program has more wins against Bama than any other team does.
In fact, Tennessee has more wins vs. Alabama than Ole Miss, Miss State, and Arkansas...have combined to win against Alabama.
Gucci and Cat would probably the most pessimistic people I've met in my life, not that I dislike either of them for it, it's almost entertaining. But I'm right around 30 and I have seen my team hoist a national championship trophy, hold a 7 game win streak vs. Alabama (and win 10 of 12). As down as we've been, not many programs can claim anything close to that. How many programs have even won a title since 98? Not Michigan. Oklahama has one in like 2000. USC? Ehh kind of. Not Penn State. Not Georgia. Not Washington. Not Nebraska.

All in all, it's great to be a Tennessee Vol. Darnell Wright will soon find out.

Additionally, we picked an excellent time to be down. Alabama is about to win 6 of 10. National Titles. No one, absolutely no one is going to remember this era for anything other than Alabama's dominance. It will be similar to the roid era of MLB. Outside of Vol fans, in 10 years, it's not going to matter if we were going 4-8 or 10-2 in this era, because there is currently only one program in college football that will be discussed for this era.

Just caught up with this thread. Young people in here need to stop using age as an excuse. I'm 28 and Alabama is still 100% a rivalry. Yeah, we are down as we have been many times before but they have gone 8, 9, 10 years without beating us as well. Just because the hill and valley at this particular time is probably the most extreme that it has ever been doesn't make this any less of a rivalry, it just sucks. Some of y'all need to learn the history of this game and then toughen the **** up.

Looks like I get to watch this one live fellas. Going to have to leave late 3rd quarter for church. Won’t be able to finish till 5 hours later. Going to be brutal

Nah, that's a triple bogey for Chief. He spends a lot of time searching for examples that fit his narrative and this one blew up on him.
Nah. It didn't. Don't know how anyone who isn't in denial could say that's a bad example. There were plenty of folks who were going on about how disrespected the kid was his senior season, has sick measurables, would get bumped back up to a 4 star, etc. Like they always do when a low rated recruit is committed to the Volunteers. Because of that fact alone he's automatically a stud football players who everyone else in the country is overlooking. Not sure what's so hard to understand about it.

At 30, I do not share Guccis opinion. Alabama is a rivalry. They still consider it a rivalry. If they didnt, they wouldn't smoke cigars after a win. History matters. This game is bigger than Gucci and his/my generations limited exposure.

No offense Gucci but your attitude is a Butch Jones attitude. Don't be a loser. Also, your limited experience with this game does not overrule a century of tradition. It is not hard to realize. You need to humble yourself.

We are around the same age. And all of my friends who are...wait for it...also around my age - Vols fans or not - don't have an opinion of the program even in the same realm of what Gucci, and Catbone regularly, posted.
Most cfb fans I interact with mention how the Alabama machine is out of control and how it's basically been useless to compete for close to 10 years. Occasionally someone has been lucky, Clemson, for instance. But no one is going to even mention them in 5 years when discussing 2010-2020 cfb.
