Recruiting Forum Football Talk [RIP 9.3.2019]

I don’t agree. The Red River Rivalry, this game and the original Iron Bowls have always been one of the best things about college football. One side of the stadium for each fanbase...nothing the pro’s or other programs can replicate. And upsets are always a strong (to probable) possibility...no matter the rankings. I arrived in DFW 95 and wondered what the big deal was about. One weekend later I knew. Got hard core Longhorns and Sooners in the same Chili’s prolly local alumni that live down the street from each other! Not everything cool you read about from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s died in the 80’s...just most of it.
I understand what you're saying, and I don't necessarily disagree; and it is part of that uniqueness that makes college football...I just think it's an advantage both UGA and UF have on the rest of the east, that they don't have to play TRUE ROAD GAMES inside the swamp or between the hedges each year, like the rest of us do.

OTOH, they also are missing out on a true home game. They don't get the home field advantage of the other guy coming to their house. Honestly, I think it all evens out.

And I think you're ridiculous for constantly trashing the guy. Has he ever been a dick to you? I like you, and usually you give a guy a fair shake, but you've been on his back and OVs back for no good reason.
Ive made my reasoning quite clear you either dont see it or dont agree either way, to each their own. I find most of their posts valuable and informative.

Also I struggled with the news today... I had to be vague due to the sensitive nature of the medical side of it. I also wanted to respect the process the university has around news as sensitive as that as well as his family. He is a GREAT KID and has been amazing to get to know which also made it hard for me...trust me when I say this kid will do great things no matter if it is in football or not....he is that special of a person.

That being said for those of you that don’t understand it and didn’t respect how I tried to relay the message please just put me on ignore...much easier for us all. GBO[/QUOTE

Still waiting to send you my resume 😂😂😂
Also love the info you bring

I don't understand your post?

Insulting a person, item, action, or idea by calling it gay inherently an insult to gay people. Why do we call bad things crappy? Because excrement is widely considered in a negative connotation. If you can't put the analogy together there, this place is even worse than I thought.

I'm just making sure people are aware of how they talk before they venture outside of their bubble and make fools of themselves (especially if they're wearing UT orange). I was also the guy who had to remind folks that "oriental" is how you describe spices and rugs, not Asian people.

Please tell me I missed your point.
You missed my point by missing that the term "gay" means something else entirely, and has meant something else entirely LONG BEFORE it was considered an insult to say.

Another question, since you didn't answer my first one: What if OP meant "merry" or "happily excited" when he chose to use the term "gay" in his post...would it then have passed the INSULT or NOT AN INSULT test?

If us winning the SEC east came down to us needing UF to beat UGA, wouldn't you feel a lot more confident if UGA had to go into the Swamp as opposed to a neutral site, and vice versa?

In Peyton’s senior year, UGA beat Florida to give us the SEC East...UGA team we trounced against one of Spurrier’s best teams...evens out.

As a critic of the way you posted earlier, it’s nothing personal and I don’t want to put you on ignore or anything. It’s really not a big deal to me. I just don’t get what the point of posting at all is when you can’t (rightfully so in this instance given that it was a medical issue) provide anything more than a vague reference.

In other words, why not just let it come out organically in that instance when you rightfully can’t provide details? I feel like that is more desirable than sending the speculation meter through the roof until the news finally drops.

Those of us that have been around awhile all know and respect your credentialed status as an insider. And I think you did the right thing by not posting any details. I just disagree with posting cryptically.

Because he knows some of us enjoy such info and heads-up. And those who don't enjoy it can just let it slide. There's a ton of stuff on a message board that many people don't want to read or even don't think should be posted. So everybody's supposed to stop posting because someone else might not agree with it?
