Sounds strategyI heard on the Sports Animal today that Tennessee is DFL in the NCAA at converting 3rd and short (129th out of 129 teams) and 119th at 3rd and medium. We are, however, 10th at converting 3rd and long. Therefore, Helton is calling the right plays to get us into 3rd and long and we can convert those.
Right. Recruited means 1) an official visit, 2) in-person, off-campus encounter, or 3) issuing an NLI or financial aid offer. They’ll get to that number. I think it explains why new names are popping up. Isn’t the rule for a blue shirt that they aren’t “recruited” or whatever?
The biggest thing to me is how they open 25 scholarships. There are what, 13 graduating seniors? It means at least 12 guys processed.
I only count 11 seniors on scholarship - Chryst, London, Tuttle, A. Johnson, Phillips, Bain, Kongbo, Bates, Abernathy, Kelly, Henderson. Who am I missing?
In any case, I don't think it will be hard for Pruitt to find 12-14 more guys, especially from Butch's 2016 & 2017 classes.
I only see 11 scholarship seniors on the current roster- Chryst, London, A.Johnson, Tuttle, Bain, Phillips, Kongbo, Bates, Henderson, Kelly, & Abernathy. Scholarship roster has 84 currently. If we add 25 this coming offseason, we'll have to see 13 transfer, processed, or enter early for the draft. They’ll get to that number. I think it explains why new names are popping up. I’m sure your count is correct. 13 was a guess.I only see 11 scholarship seniors on the current roster- Chryst, London, A.Johnson, Tuttle, Bain, Phillips, Kongbo, Bates, Henderson, Kelly, & Abernathy. Love the Banks move to LB.
Outside of Chandler, he's next best RB but can't have the fumble issues.
Put our best athletes on the field and let them play. He will help with the run D and hit the LOS hard and help close the gaps. Assuming he will be a liability on pass coverage but should improve with experience.
Says a lot about what Pruitt thinks about the current stable of our LBs.
Kirkland has been disappointing. Was hoping Bituli would take the next step and become a great LB but it hasn't happened. Sapp has had issues with Pruitt and the staff.
Ignont? Reid? Bates?
Surprising we only have one LB currently in this class, Henry and we are fighting to hold on to him. Would like to get another LB in this class (Pappoe).
Yep.For sure. And while I hate it for kids who are trying their best but just aren’t good enough, I do think there is a huge gain to be had when you cut the fat - especially with guys who have attitude and effort problems. Addition by serious subtraction.
Ty should have been moved over to the left side for that reason. Bama actually did a poor job of disguising it with the safety lined up directly over the corner. It looked like JG bit on the LB bluffing on the right side and it left you with Ty blocking a DE after the RG turned him loose and 300+lb. LG trying to get in front of a corner. It was doomed to fail.I’m well aware, however some people still like looking at stats.
And his Oline doesn’t help him out at all whiffing on blocks. Like Carvin on the Corner blitz vs Bama, yes JG should have recognized it but he ran right past Carvin
Honestly kinda hope Chryst starts this week. Muschamp will disguise blitzes, coverages and will make it really hard on JG just like he did to Dobbs. Chryst definitely has better awareness and might give us the best chance to move the ball consistently. Don’t want to see a repeat of UF
