I don't think anyone considered that a corner-turning victory. We were all happy we finally got a good win that year, but Ole Miss was not that great of a team at the time. Two 9-4 seasons in the years leading up to 2010. And the year before was when we beat a ranked South Carolina team on Halloween in the Kiffin all-black jerseys.
Yea Kiffin vs South Carolina is another I guess

Ole miss had destroyed us the year before and we absolutely routed them with a freshmen QB we thought was the future.

I agree it wasn't as good a win as yesterday but this auburn team isn't going to win a lot more games either though

Ole Miss finished last in the West and lost to FCS Jacksonville State week 1.

Great weekend and we should all enjoy it but we need to realize that both Dooley and Jones had wins in year 1 where we all thought it was a sign we had our coach ready to lead us back into national prominence. We still have to get to 6 wins before this season moves the needle more than those 2 years imo
What win caused people to think Dooley would lead us back to national prominence? UAB?

It's not a terrible point that both Butch and Dooley won decent games in their first years. We almost beat LSU and did beat UNC in that bowl game in 2010. In 2013, we beat USC thanks to Marquez North.

But, this Auburn game feels a bit different.

Away.
Broke the SEC streak.
Broke the SEC-west streak.
Broke the away SECw streak.
Broke the Auburn streak.

I think this team just bought into themselves.

I think we finish 8-4 or 7-5.

That really helps with recruits, guys in the system now, coaches getting their legs underneath them, etc.

Felt good to have Phil in the locker room chanting after the W also.

A win over Auburn is always going to feel better than a win over SCar or Ole Miss. It just is.

Key to yesterday's win and going forward is the turnover and field position battle. Just look at the UF game.

Yesterday we forced 3 turnovers and didnt cough up the ball. We didn't put the D in bad spots. We kept putting their O in bad field position and allowed D to play more aggressive.

We continue to play like this and we have a legit shot to win the rest of our games outside of Bama.
This.

Unless my memory is off the ole miss game in Knoxville was a game where we all thought the corner was being turned. It was after the near miss against LSU.

Of course me memory might be off but I think that was his first year
Yea it’s off. LSU was the start of a 4 game losing streak

One thing to keep in mind also (re-won't beat Mizzou crowd) is we are getting better every week. This team would beat the crap out of the TN team that played Florida. This team was even better than the team that played 2 weeks ago at GA. We are getting better every single week.

Our OL has improved tremendously. Some have said that AU's DL is the best in college football. Even with injuries to the OL, we still played extremely well against them. WE still didn't get much push in the run game, but Jarrett had time to throw the football. We are getting better every week. And we'll be better when we play Mizzou, when we play SC, when we play KY, and Vandy, than we are today. No doubt about it.

All of the intern's teams got worse as the year went on. Pruitt's team is getting better.

Hard to argue!!

We just need to get thru next week.... Healthy.

And take our chances the rest of the way.

Nothing will come easy. That much I feel confident in.

But I like the fact that this team continued to make plays. Yesterday's have goes to the players. I'm not discounting the coaching...I think they were prepared.

But just about every time the been needed to be rung... They rang it.

And sometimes, that's what it takes.

Still fired up about it...

I'll concede that game wasn't all that but it was more about the huge scoring day and a freshmen QB that had most of us in a buzz.

The point is Kiffin and jones for sure had a buzz win in their first years. Dooleys year is debatable.

Pruitt must get this team to a bowl or yesterday is nothing more than butch beating spurrier in year 1 imo

Just able to watch the game. Helton did better with playcalling but we cannot keep putting ourselves in multiple 3rd and 8+. Our WRs played a hell of a game and came down with almost every back-shoulder/jumpball throws. This won't happen going forward. We have got to do better on 1st and 2nd down. So proud of our guys yesterday. What a hell of a win and they deserved it. Can't wait to see Bryce and Alontae as Juniors/Seniors. And I especially can't wait until Pruitt can truly get his guys for our defense.

I think next year's team could be good, but it really stinks that we are losing KP, Tuttle, and Johnson. We don't have proven backups behind them

Agree on most but we are still really bad run blocking. Let’s lean on JG and let’s go.

Auburn's DL is really good. It's hard to run on them consistently. We used swing passes to Chandler as an extension of the run and had success there. Our guys got 2 first downs on that final drive to crunch some clock, which was nice.

Can we? Absolutely. Will we? I sure hope so. I feel more confident in those chances after yesterday.

The confidence from this win has got to go a long way. They just beat Auburn in their house despite being 15 point underdogs. Now how the hell are they gonna be intimidated by anyone remaining on the schedule minus Bama?

Chandler,T. rush over right end for 9 yards to the UT41
Jordan,T. rush up middle for no gain to the UT48
Chandler,T. rush over left guard for 1 yard to the AU39

This tells me that Helton and Pruitt intentionally decided to run the ball on first down in the second half to shorten the game.

watching the game again on SECN right now.... running it on 1st and 2nd, then false start, then sack after Kongbo interception. Then they come right back and score... Last year's team would have rolled over and quit. We didn't.

*** why did he run it on 1st AND 2nd?

2/4 is very doable against UK, vandy, USC, and Mizzou, but we will have to win close games . Probabilities something like

0/4- 5%
1/4- 30%
2/4- 35%
3/4- 20%
4/4- 10%

I think we will go bowling.

I think these wins simply come down to QB pressure the entire game with the way we match up. I know it seems too simple, but if Mizz isn't throwing, they are losing, and so are KY, SC, and Candy...

Some believe it was simply to chew up clock even if to our own detriment at times.

I have defended Helton’s play calling all along and still seem to like it more than many others, but I was pretty frustrated over those two playcalls following Kongbo’s INT. Would have been perfect time for a little play action.

I think good QBs will give us fits. For that I think Kentucky and SCar will be wins. I just can’t see Pruitt letting Vandy beat us however. but it will be a tough one. Mizzou gets us.

7-5 with a win against a decent West team is a respectable season.
