Notes from yesterday---

I thought they said Kongbo was a MCL Sprain? Hopefully that is the case and nothing more severe.

Freshman Taylor and Thompson are learning and getting better every game, great to see this-- that's what good coaching does. Ignont is progressing too. Fair still needs to work with DB's on third down situations and knowing how far to play off the WR in relation to where the first down marker is. They both were giving way too much cushion and allowed for some easy first down catches at the marker/sidelines. They will learn, but hopefully sooner than later.

Our D line top to bottom was very impressive yesterday and every single player fought till the whistle and clearly didn't take a single down off. We have some big shoes to fill for next season.

O line was better, but now we are thin as hell. Hopefully someone on here can get a full report on everyone's injury/return status.

Bituli out the first half will definitely be bad, but with others progressing and Sapp healthy and experienced, it won't be too bad.

Jordan.... hmmm.... I just can't decide on him yet. He will have great plays/series, and then will pull a couple of boneheads... Maybe give Banks or London a few more carries at this point. I bet Banks is scared to death by now to let any ball hit the ground.

Helton--- man, I was super hot at that dude yesterday, especially when it was starting to look like we could pull this off. I am not going to let up on him just because someone apparently got to him in the second half. I get trying to establish the run, but trying to run it literally straight up the middle on 1st OVER and OVER again even though it was failing and giving us 2nd and negative yardage is just bush-league dense. Our offense is still too predictable. I know the whole new players, new offense, etc, but by now, we should be able to do what we want. Someone getting paid that much, with that much experience should be able to mix things up and keep the D guessing... Hopefully he learned from yesterday and we will see some different looks. Have we run a single slot/slant pass in the past 3-4 games?

Pruitt--- read where he spent specific time with the WR corp this week explaining how important it was for them to catch the ball at the highest point to give them an advantage over the DB's... and well, well, well, looky what happened when JG slung it up and out and our WR's went up for those balls! Coaching Folks.

Hopefully injuries will be at a minimum.
I know some on here will flame me for this, but go ahead--------- As much as it goes against my ridiculously competitive nature, I think we give 100% next week, but play SMART and play the long game. DO NOT do anything stupid that may put any players in bad situations to get hurt. I switched back and forth to the AL game and they are just stupid good. We now have a good chance with SC, Mizz, KY, and Vandy-- don't kill ourselves over one very low percentage game. Heck, if play it right, SC didn't look so hot, maybe we go in there and upset them too! I will be interested to see how Pruitt goes into this game since it's where he came from.

I really liked that we tried that onside kick after the Auburn penalty gave us a shorter kickoff. Seems almost obvious in hindsight because even though we didn't get it, Auburn still started at their own 25. Thought it was really heads up and smart decision that could have put us way ahead.

Also using the timeout to get the ball back right before the half. Seemed like the announcers thought we should just be happy to get to halftime. But Pruitt is constantly playing to win. Love it so much.

So refreshing to have an actual football coach and staff that are there to maximize the kid's potential and WIN.

Watching the Jeremy Pruitt show. 1st again that awful tie, lol. Now the serious, just did Piece about the Bituli and gotta say it was heartbreaking to hear how he got out of the situation he was in were millions of people were killed for Different ethnicities. The CIA (thanks guys) saved them and brought them over here. Just a great story of survival and Perseverance.

Really puts things in your life in perspective when you see things like that. DB is a great dude.

So I was also one of the many Vol fans screaming at the tv that we should throw the ball on 1st down.... Make that every down. I do think our running game was let off the hook at times by some outstanding plays by our QB and WR's on 3rd downs.

But.... That being said.

I think our commitment to running the ball likely gave us opportunities in the passing game that may not have been there. We had success on the first drive and Auburn was forced to adjust by bringing an extra man in the box.

We proved that we weren't going to abandon the run, no matter what. Auburn was forced to respect it all day long and even when they stopped us, they were unable to get us to go away from it. I think our persistence wore them down as the game went on and we were able to put some timely first downs together on the ground when we needed to late in the game. Having that extra man in the box also gave us opportunities in the passing game that would not have been there.

Running the ball also shortened the game and limited Auburns possessions.

This is the exact offense Pruitt said he wanted. We were going to run the football when we wanted and make explosive plays down the field in the passing game. This is the formula he wants.

Now for one second. Let's imagine what this all looks like when we can actually run the ball at will. And teams can't stop it. Cause that's where we're headed in the next few years. And it's gonna be awesome.

What do yall think line will be for Bama?

Before Tua injury I was thinking 21 but now think it will open at 17 and come down to 14 by kickoff.

My interpretation of this. Coaches must know what they are doing.😁

Would be cool if we got Bama without Tua. That's probably the kind of break we needed to have a shot.

I mean, we're not supposed to be confident about anything ever because we're Tennessee fans. But dang I can't help it anymore. Im just excited to watch these guys play again. Don't care who the opponent is.
