Just seen a stat that Kirby is 0-3 vs SEC West teams....CJP already got his W, in his first year with subpar talent

He’s played more than 3 games. He beat a top ten Auburn team his first year. But he has now lost 3 games to west teams.

My favorite sequence of plays was the goal line stand by Tennessee on Auburn's second drive of the game. Reminded me of Tennessee's great teams of the '60s!

1st down @ UT 3YL - Miller stopped by D. Taylor & Bain for no gain.
2nd down @ UT 3YL - Bain makes TD saving tackle on Miller for 1 yard gain.
3rd down @ UT 2YL - B. Thompson with TD saving PBU in EZ on Cannella.

Auburn had to settle for a FG and it prevented the game from getting out of hand at that point.

Tim Jordan catch at 2:00 in the first half. Looks like he should have kept running towards the sticks out of bounds. He stutter steps and ends up short of the first down, resulting in a punt

I was in the car listening to the broadcast during this play. Tim Priest is funny. Said something about not dancing and being a man and running straight up field into your tacklers.

I don't know how to find these stats, but it will be interesting to see what our average gain was on first down. I know we had a couple of explosive plays (maybe just one), and otherwise except for Chandler's opening run, we were pretty awful on first down. It seems like we were almost always 2nd and 8 or worse. We made up for it on 3rd down as JG was unbelievable throwing it on 3rd and long. To me, that is the most amazing stat. As bad as we were on first down, we still managed to put up 23 on offense and could have had more.

The problem is that we can’t keep up that rate of conversion on third down. A good offense gets you into manageable third down yardage.

I was pleased with the improvement with play calling. Coaches can get better too. I do hope they get a little more creative in the run game. I cringed with the stretch handoff to one side, and the RB seems to have a defender in his face pretty quickly. There is still a little more misdirection that we can use in running the ball.

Like Freak said, I bet most of us felt like Auburn would get the onside kick and win in last seconds. BVS is real-- Last year, our team did backflips because we beat Southern Miss. OTOH, this year, Jennings did fist pump and then quietly handed the ball to ref after huge touchdown-- Pruitt is obviously teaching this team (and BVS fans) that being Tennessee VOL means that you should expect to win against good teams.

My dad and I were joking that we were biting our nails during the last 1:30 even though the game was pretty much won at that point

Agreed, I was so glad they did not pour gatorade on Coach for getting his first sec win. The mentality has to change then the results of the process follow.

Anyone know why UTsports hasn’t done a highlight video since west virgina? Hopefully we’ll get one from this game
I think I remember seeing that they were in charge of recruiting videos now so that is taking up a majority of there time. Hopefully this will put some more excitement into the group and lead to some over time pay for a highlight video :)

I and just about everyone in section 103 expected them to get the onside. What a relief when we recovered it. What a game!! So glad I got to go. @mrMet & @OGbabyaviVol wish I could have met up with you before the game but we got off to a late start. Go Vols!

Because for so long it seems that we couldn't do something good without coming back on the very next play and do something stupid. Finding way to give the game away instead of finishing them off. After years of this I to am sitting there watching that onside kick expecting AU to come back and win. Great to see us get by that finally.

No..it took players executing better just like I said.
I’m sorry dude but you’re so stubborn. YES the players executed better, because they’ve very obviously been coached up, but you can’t be that oblivious to the fact that Helton mixed it up a LOT more yesterday and called a much better game.

Georgia was due for a loss or two. They lost so much from last year. You just can’t predict when it would happen though.

The league as a whole has been very difficult to predict week to week, outside of whoever is facing Arkansas and Bama
I’m glad UGA lost but it is really hard to go unbeaten in any league and obviously the SEC.

I heard a stat that 13 of 16 playoff teams so far have had a loss.
