I don't know how to find these stats, but it will be interesting to see what our average gain was on first down. I know we had a couple of explosive plays (maybe just one), and otherwise except for Chandler's opening run, we were pretty awful on first down. It seems like we were almost always 2nd and 8 or worse. We made up for it on 3rd down as JG was unbelievable throwing it on 3rd and long. To me, that is the most amazing stat. As bad as we were on first down, we still managed to put up 23 on offense and could have had more.

From the Auburn board (game thread):

"Who is UT's OC? He should be tarred and feathered. They just need to throw the ball..."

To be fair, I'm happy as hell that Helton finally got the memo on this. Given our WRs performances, I'm also hoping Pruitt keeps spending time with them in practice.
OL finally gave him a little time. So many times JG has been opening up to launch and gets blasted from the backside

Just seen a stat that Kirby is 0-3 vs SEC West teams....CJP already got his W, in his first year with subpar talent
How can he be 0-3? Even in the regular season, he has played 5 games against them. He also beat Auburn in the SECCG.

Damn some, well alot ot you ought to feel bad. I only made it to page 18 of the game thread. The way some of you was talking about our players is shameful. No respect at all for these guys giving their all. Sorry Nick I cant go back in there. Some of you saying we have the best fans, they was definitely not in there. I dont have anybody on ignore, but if I keep reading that thread I would prob have 20 at least. I hope yall dont jump to conclusions about stuff in life like you do foosball. Rant over carry on fu$$ers.
We all pretty much freak out when things start poorly. It's just what fans do. Most people will later call themselves out and admit that they let their emotions and/or alcohol get the best of them. I love reading it later when we have turned it around and those posts look so dumb. I have made some of them myself, for sure.

I’m sure this has already be asked and answered but when was the last time we beat and sec west opponent ?
Thanks

I doubt it will be mentioned in the same light but I think the play of the game was the punt before halftime. It took away any chance for them to try and score and gave us 3 pts and lot of momentum going to the half.
I loved the effort sack from Alexis forcing stidham to throw his first INT.

In the FWIW column, that last drive was a total bow down to Auburn by the officials. Besides the non-catch in the end zone, there were two short completed passes along the UT bench's sideline where forward progress was completely stopped in the field of play. On one the receiver moved backwards a couple of steps before stepping out of bounds. On the other the receiver even fell on his tail inbounds. The same line official stopped the clock on both. The head official could have overruled as well as the booth. Had they been called correctly, the game clock would probably have run out before the non-TD pass.

The team is getting better each week. (Coaching) We also held auburn to 90 yards in the second half before their last garbage td. (Adjustments). Been a long time since we had both of those

Good post. This is the one thing you want to see most in a rebuild. We've had way too much coaching convention verbiage prior to CJP's arrival. Just keep working and improving while making adjustments that give you a shot to win.

Kirby is 0-3 against SECW teams in their houses (a.k.a., true road games against the west).
I'm just glad Georgia is still Richt-ing. Before the year, I thought Georgia was going to steamroll everyone. Watching that game yesterday reminded me how Georgia used to underachieve and fold during Richt's tenure.

Doesn't DeAndre Jordan play for the Mavericks now instead of the Clippers?

It's amazing the constant typos and grammatical errors that VQ prints. They can't even get names of the UT players right.

DeAndre Johnson's sack was critical. DeAndre Jordan's play this year will be critical if the Dallas Mavericks make the playoffs in the Western Conference.

Yeah, the play where they stopped the clock when the guy clearly went down in bounds was ridiculous. I'm pretty sure that was on a 3rd down as well which let them set up a 4th down call rather than having to rush it with the clock moving. Besides saving them 15 or 20 seconds it also helped them make the first down.

Georgia was due for a loss or two. They lost so much from last year. You just can’t predict when it would happen though.

The league as a whole has been very difficult to predict week to week, outside of whoever is facing Arkansas and Bama

That call was unreal, as was the phantom TD towards the end. Their WR didn’t even remotely almost have control. Get ready for the hose job 2 weeks in a row, because the refs will be clad in crimson stripes next week.
