Depending on how well he comes out of the aftermath of this latest Hurricane, I'd also keep an eye on Florida flipping to Scott. That race is close.

I expect Scott to win down here. Unlimited money and name recognition. Going up against a guy thats been there forever and pretty lowkey. I think the House is up in the air. I dont expect the Blue Wave to be as big as a lot of hopefuls are banking on.

Business prof for 25 years. For the most part our faculty stay away from political view points. I make a point of handling politics (regulation more commonly) with an agnostic approach. If you are designing strategy you deal with the political situation at hand rather than promote a certain view.

In the larger picture however the university environment increasingly embraces victimhood and actively encourages it.

from my time at UT ending in '12 I remember them pushing an attitude of "report everything" and enforced meetings with counselors whether you needed it or not. Had one myself after I got shoved in a crowd by someone running by. some admin saw it gave me a number to call for an appointment, got my name and email (same thing at UT). later after blowing it off I received notice that I couldn't graduate unless I had the mandatory counseling for the "stress related incident". The entire counseling was asking how I felt about it and how the situation made the counselor uncomfortable with what happened. I didn't even fall down. biggest waste of my time at UT and thats saying a lot.

I literally cannot remember one class I took in college where the professor tried to push some political ideals on us (I was also high as a kite half the time so that might contribute to my spotty memory). I can't speak for what they do over in the land of fruits and nuts but I really do think the "liberal indoctrination" angle is overstated, even though I think we can all admit they are more liberal than conservative environments overall. This is due to many factors though.

Maybe it was easier not to really see it if you are of like mind. Or it could have been that smokey haze as you stated. Id be careful of that, the possibility of a spotty memory has now become a weapon. lol.

Thanks for sharing. Not to make light of the incident or what they required you to do, but you sound like the victim of this encouraged victimization. You see it as punitive and rightfully so, through no fault of your own. It made you more angry than the actual incident. Is that about right?

I'm pretty sure I would have noticed. And no, teaching evolution and not mentioning the Lawd in biology is not pushing a political agenda.

The recent Siena poll in AZ is interesting. Among registered voters Heller trails by 3. Among likely voters Heller leads by 2.

I was upset at the time about the counseling. now its one of things I look back at and shake my head at. uncomfortable is probably the best word to describe how I feel/felt about the whole thing.

You know what, that makes me somewhat angry at the Administration for requiring that. Counseling should never be used that way and only works if someone is needing and wanting it.

It was definitely a case of wrong place wrong time. seems they were out on the pedestrian walkway roping kids in. I remember waiting with several others and none of them looked like they needed counseling and just seemed bored as they waited.

it was probably someone doing something to justify their jobs. I put it up more to bureaucracy crap.

never had any professors push that crap, just the admin.

I experienced it but it was more in the classes where you had to write papers and opinions on things..... I struggled making C’s I. Most of my classes that were geared I. That direction..... I decided to write my papers geared toward what I believed my professors belief system was and started making A’s on those papers going forward.

I took a Religious Studies class for a Cultures and Civs elective requirement as an EE. In the textbook, there was a whole section dedicated to why the "Redskins" is an offensive name for a football team. Also, there was a section dedicated to Christian extremism with a Baptist dude holding up an anti-Semitic sign, while saying nothing about Islamic extremism in the Islam chapter. My professor in that class even likened Trump supporters and Fox News listeners to "Nazis". This was in a 101 level class in that department. Just imagine if you were majoring in RS!
