Is it just me, or with the decade of suck that we've endured, does anyone else get sick to their stomach when they hear that CBS 3:30pm intro music? It's like a Pavlovian symbol that we are more than likely about to get our teeth kicked in.

I dread Danielson’s take. He’s annoyingly but usually pretty spot on in his analysis. And he generally explains how we don’t have the players to compete, how we used to be good a dozen years ago when he first started announcing the sec and then he ends by rattling off 30 things that need to go our way to keep from being embarrassed.

Wasn't the Jancek thing more that just on the field stuff?
Supposedly.

He still put out the best defenses we had under Butch. Shoop wasn’t a great fit here or with this staff. Shouldn’t have wasted money on him.

Honestly, I’m starting to worry that the Helton/Friend/Pruitt combo might greatest combo either. I wonder how much all of their visions for this offense align and how frustrated they may be behind the scenes. Total speculation there, though.

It'll be worse seeing all the crimson in Neyland than hearing Danielson gushing about Bama. You can mute Danielson.

This. I was at the 08 game. I swear bama had at least 30,000 there. At the end of the game Tennessee fans were literally outnumbered.

I worry too about that combo. I was hoping Pruitt would hire a very well established, experienced OC. Don't mind him going after a first time DC because that's his defense. We'll see how it plays out.

They are #1 in the country in scoring defense

Given up 7 TDs in 6 games. (Also best in the country)

Serious question, what would impress you?
Honestly I just don’t think he’s getting as much out of that unit as he could and I haven’t been impressed with him schematically. When I watch them it seems like he’s using a lot of the same pressures and DB blitzes that got him burned here. He’s got enough legit dudes on his front 7 that he shouldn’t need to keep getting cute like he has. It burned him against UK, who is kind of a one trick pony offensively.

OC was a critical hire, with a defensive-minded HC who wants to focus on the D and trust his OC to keep the O clicking. Pruitt spending more and more practice time with the O, when that isn't his forte, means that things have changed. We'll see if anything changes on the field against Auburn.
