Weird observation.... 2018 Kentucky is eerily similar to 2016 Vols

Mobile QB, better runner than thrower

Stud RB that will play Sundays

Struggled first game against a cupcake

Broke the Florida streak

Beat a ranked rival

Started 5-0

Got a ton of media attention, achieved the highest ranking they’ve had in as far back as anyone could remember

Then went to Texas A&M, came back from behind on a miracle turnover to send it to OT. Lost in OT.

....... the similarities are insane

They've been very patient and allowed their coach to grow a program. If we are super-patient too maybe someday we can grow up to be like them. And the similarities really are pretty interesting.

I think Stoops is a decent enough coach. I don't think they are ubertalented....my observation on UK this year is that they have a team, with decent talent, that is playing together....with toughness and determination. We'll see how things pan out the next few weeks after a big letdown at TAMU...if Stoops is really that good, they'll bounce back...but if not, the wheels could fall off.

They've had big time issues with the back half of their schedule the past 5 years. They haven't finished above .500 in the SEC in 31 years.
The problem has been depth and/or skill after first team guys. Does this sound familiar as has been stated in most posts in this thread?

I wouldn’t go expecting Kentucky to make a habit of this just yet.

In addition, expect Stoops to get an offer elsewhere at some point

If other DC's in the SEC follow Elko's (A&M"s DC), strategy then they are gonna go all out in shutting down Snell and running QB Wilson and force UK to throw. Wilson was lost vs. A&M so either UK regroups or takes some azz whippins.

That’s what everyone has tried to do. What a lot of people aren’t taking notice of is that it has been Kentucky’s defense that has allowed them to keep pounding the rock.

Florida didn’t score. Carolina didn’t score. MSU didn’t score. A&M didn’t score.

That defense has been really good this season and if you don’t take the run away via the scoreboard, they’ll keep pounding Snell and eventually he’ll get rolling against most of their competition.

A&M was able to do it without getting points on the board.
