Just a slow decline. More worried about Dad more than mom. It's wearing on him I can tell. Mom still knows me but sometimes ask if if I'm me. Her short term is gone. We can have dinner and after the tables cleaned off she's asking what we're having for dinner. I bought her a 2nd grade level riddle book and she'll read it cover to cover and get upset if you're not paying attention. It's sad.

My dad has dementia. Has had it for about 7 yrs. He doesn't know any of us anymore and can't finish his sentences or thoughts. Try's to say certain words but can't get them out so he makes up short words that don't exist. My mom has been taking care of him and now he has progressed to the point that Hospice is coming in to help her now. Just 6 months ago they said he wasn't far enough long to help but now is. Can't bathe himself anymore. Been very hard to watch him go down with this disease.

Sorry, bud. It's terrible to see your heros dwindle away.

My wife’s grandma is going through it right now and is around this stage. When I was very young (under 10) I saw it happen to my granny so I just try to remind my wife’s family not to get irritated/upset when they don’t remember certain things or ask a lot of questions. It’s very tough.

For my money it’s the worst disease we have.

Same with my Dad. It’s hard. It’s sad. It hurts. I’m 60 he’s 82 now I’m the parent taking care of him.
