No.

Dan Mullen can coach.

People wanna mention the 7-8 wins and record against top 25 and completely ignore the context of where he was at

They haven’t celebrated an SEC title in Starkville since before WWII for a reason.
This all day. For the life of me I can't understand why people have been pretending like he sucks, or is "meh." The dude was at Mississippi freaking State. Would have killed to get him here.

I don't necessarily disagree, but I do think Florida has more speed offensively, and they're much further along in the defensive line, physically.

How is it that Mullen already has Florida competing with a very good LSU team? Are they really that much more talented than us?

They definitely have more top end talent than us. LSU is not an offensive juggernaut, but Mullen can coach. People are too quick to make declarations about coaches.

He hasn't done squat. He's not recruiting at Florida well. Overrated, but we'll see in a year or so.

I didn’t want to start a new thread but wanted to see what fellow vols fans think. When we hired kiffin everyone was like hell yeah!!! When we hired Dooley everyone was like WTF?? When we hired Butch most people were like let’s wait and see he is a good recruiter and he was the best a available. Pruitt most people were just thankful we got a coach and are Like let’s wait and see he should be a good coach. Butchs first year we went 5-7 lost to candy but beat USC. Is Pruitt a better coach with a worse team or did butch just get lucky?

And then he changed it to 95-98 (4 years) and you still argued that we weren’t close lol. And even said it’s because Saban plays more games now
Which would mean I wasn't the one "moving the goal posts." In no way, shape or form was Tennessee's level of dominance in the 90's comparable to that of Alabama's run over this past decade. Especially when Tennessee was number two to UF during that span in their own conference.

Mullen will keep Florida between 8-10 wins a year. They won’t suck but they won’t put the fear of god into people either.

Don’t think they compete for championships with him at the helm.
They might literally win 10 games (if they hold on today) in his first year with McElwain’s 4-7 win roster.

Mullen inherited a team one year removed from back to back SEC east division championships. I don’t think they necessarily outtalent is at every position, but they don’t have the glaring holes like we do at OL and DB either.

I like Pruitt, but I was excited at the prospect of landing Mullen too. He has an excellent track record, the “Mehlen” crowd is pretty foolish on this issue.

Actually I think the discussion was that Mullen was a good coach but may not have a high ceiling. That hasn’t changed. Revisionist history.
A lot of folks were saying he'd do at Florida and Tennessee what he did at Mississippi State. One of those programs isn't like the other two.
