McCaskill’s Husband Makes Millions Flipping Government Tax Credits

Husband used government program for poor to build own fortune

Since Claire McCaskill joined the Senate, her husband Joseph Shepard has made at least $11 million through a business that buys up tax credits awarded to Missouri affordable housing developers and sells them to high-income entities seeking tax relief.

Since Claire McCaskill joined the Senate, her husband Joseph Shepard has made at least $11 million through a business that buys up tax credits awarded to Missouri affordable housing developers and sells them to high-income entities seeking tax relief.

Shepard's company, the Missouri Tax Credit Fund, operates within the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), a $9 billion a year federal program that awards tax credits to developers building qualified affordable housing projects. The LIHTC program is designed for developers in need of cash to attract investors for projects by offering them tax credits.

Analysis by policy institutions and government investigators, however, has found the LIHTC program to be inefficient, with much of the money—intended for affordable housing—ending up in the pockets of middlemen syndicators who connect developers with investors, earning lofty fees from both sides.

Shepard plays the lucrative role of syndicator and has made millions off the government program.

Records available on the Missouri secretary of state's website show Shepard’s company acquired tax credits awarded to at least 57 different affordable housing projects in Missouri between 2006 and 2017. Together, the 57 projects were awarded $273.3 million in LIHTCs, a review of the state's tax credit database found.

EO recently signed with stop that money pit. Concerns gov contractors. Trump had every entity within the gov audited to find waste... They found it, in just about every agency.

I wish her luck. Puppets don't usually do well without someone pulling those strings.

Ridiculous... No substantive changes of note were made to NAFTA, the Republicans control the Senate, so big deal another justice was confirmed, no concessions have been made by North Korea - just more empty promises, and the column even said that no President deserves credit for the state of the American economy. Trump is all bluster - no results.

he doesn't have a point but i'm not surprised you think he does
Dude's got a point

Because ppl have been pc'd not to say straight up " i think she's lying" they give her a " i believe something happened to her" as a pat on the head.
Her testimony cemented everything most ppl believed. She was lying and this political stunt won't be forgotten any time soon.

I feel sorry for poking at @lawgator1

He needs something more than a pet rock. A dog? I'm thinking a basset hound? Big lovable type? Black Lab? Hyper, but fun.

Certainly not a cat. He gets told to eff off on here enough and having a pet do it to him would not be good. And a cat will "tell" him to eff off eventually.

Any suggestions? Let's all pitch in and help him out in the spirit of bipartisanship and Tennessee hospitality.

Slightly different numbers and specificity here.

I ate dinner with someone last night. "Very possible" one might think. Millions of potential people to eat with.

I ate dinner with Trump last night. "Hmm, why don't you prove that".

One believable with evidence. The other not so much.

Murkowski says she opposes Kavanaugh's nomination, but will vote 'present'

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) said Friday evening that she opposed Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination, becoming the only Republican senator to come out against President Trump's nominee.

"I will be a no tomorrow," Murkowski said in a speech on the Senate floor after describing how she had come to lean against voting to confirm Trump's second nominee to the high court in a final vote on Saturday.

But Murkowski said that in the final tally she would ask that her vote be recorded as "present," saying she was doing it as a courtesy to Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.), who is slated to attend his daughter's wedding back home on Saturday.

"I do this because a friend, a colleague of ours is in Montana this evening and ... he's going to be walking his daughter down the aisle and he won't be present to vote," Murkowski said. "I have extended this as a courtesy to my friend. It will not change the outcome of the vote."

The Alaska senator acknowledged that it appeared that Kavanaugh would be seated on the Supreme Court "without my vote."

Do you know why?

It's because clearly there appears to be something wrong with Blasey Ford like something happened to her either physically or mentally. She seems to have some real problems. It is improper to say she is a flat out liar but there are more holes in her story than a sieve. It appeared that she was making up parts or dodging questions and has a memory nearly as bad as a bumblebee bee.

So while no one is willing to call her an outright liar in this politically correct atmosphere there is another other way to get the point across and they've done that.

It's common sense really if you want to use it.
