This is what I was talking about last week and this past weekend--- crazy that we have so much talent on paper, but Butch and Co had severely underdeveloped this roster... Programs like KY we see are maximizing player's potential while Butch has/had been literally wasting talent. Pruitt and Co definitely have their work cut out, but the good news is that we do actually have talent, it just needs to be coached up...
Recruiting class rankings typically forecast which college football programs will be competing for championships every year.
Tennessee is one of the outliers bucking the trend.
247Sports on Thursday
unveiled its updated Team Talent Composite — the feature looks at the rosters of every FBS team and, accounting for transfers, dismissals and graduation, ranks them based on how their players ranked in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite coming out of high school — for 2018 and the Vols checked at No. 15.
Where Tennessee landed in the updated rankings isn't necessarily surprising because its past four recruiting classes were ranked fourth (2015), 14th (2016), 17th (2017) and 21st (2018) for an average recruiting finish of 14th.
However, the Vols are one of the biggest underachievers in college based on the Team Talent Composite alongside Florida State (No. 5) and UCLA (No. 19), two programs that like Tennessee have new coaches this season.
