60 pounds definitely is a giant difference. But look at guys like Daniel Cormier and Stipe. Two of the very best at 205+ with totally different backgrounds and styles. Sure, there are guys like Francis who cut to 265 and could KO a buffalo, but I like seeing a wide variety of guys in that weight class.

It's all a balance between pleasing fans vs. developing the divisions. It probably would be good for the fighters to have weight classes every 10 pounds or so. But for the fans, not so much. I'm a hardcore, so I will follow no matter what. But casuals can't and won't want to follow 600 fighters in 10+ divisions. It's already bad enough.

Khabib just did an interview with scuffs and bruises on his face. I guess Alvarez over-trained sparring to prep for McG (his face was messed up too, before the fight), and peeps are speculating that's what happened.

This closer is gets to the fight the more I think McGregor wins via TKO. Khabib seemed off during the initial press conference. He didn’t have the same confidence like he normally does. In the end i think it comes down to Khabib’s chin vs Conor’s cardio.

I started feeling differently about the matchup when I saw Khabib vs. Iaquinta. The dude is pretty lost on his feet. I think he either embarrasses Conor or I can see Conor winning a gritty match or a quick, clean KO.

i agree. Khabib looks like an amateur on his feet. If Khabib doesnt get it his hands up he will get knocked out. Another interesting thing to watch is if Khabib keeps his composure and not let his personal feelings for Conor change his gameplan. I’ve always thought Khabib is calm and cool but watching him have to be coached before the press conference it’s pretty obvious that he's got a lot of anger built up over the Bus incident.

The only thing i disagree with is Conor winning in a gritty match. Khabib's wrestling will gas Conor in the late rounds imo. Id be worried about the ground and pound late

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Khabib has never gone into a fight so emotionally invested before. For a fighter who is known for his composure and Fedor-like emotionless attitude, Khabib has shown a ton of emotion. I just don't know if he knows how to fight smart with the emotion. Does he come out like Cody Garbrandt with hands down/full power? Or can he control his emotions and stick to the gameplan of getting inside and taking Conor down immediately?

If Khabib fights to his potential, this shouldn't even be close. If Khabib tries to be stupid and strike with Conor, he will be put out quickly. Conor is just too good at distance and too powerful with that left.

Russians make the sport better, IMO. Khabib isn't my favorite, but anybody incorporating lots of Sambo is a thrill to watch and that's what lots of Russians bring. If Khabib grows the sport there, then that's good and I can root for that.

But I think Conor winning is a lot more fun.

I hope Conor wins and has his 2 vacated belts ringside and he leaves the cage with them over his shoulders and the new one around his waist.

Going to Gburg this weekend, but called ahead and a few sports bars will have the fight :) Thank God because I was about to have to fake being sick Friday lol

Another thing to watch is if Khabib can stay composed and tune out the Irish crowd. If he’s getting lit up on his feet does he panick and start rushing in for the takedown? Conor’s striking is as sharp as I’ve ever seen so Khabib before be careful trying to close ground. If he shoots low he might catch a flying knee and an early night of sleep

I want connor to win. With that said, khabib is going to win. 99 percent of the time I want a certain team of any sport, or any fighter to win, they lose. So bet the house on khabib.

I would bet the house, but then my bad luck would cancel out khabib winning and connor would win so I would lose a lot of money.. haha

For reasons, UFC just doesn't want to give Diaz any kind of control or power. It would make perfect sense from a fan perspective to simply bump Diaz and Poirer to the main and let them fight at 165.

Don't they have any other belt they could put on the line? Forget about Diaz/Poirier, there are like 14 belts or so....Montano's vacated belt is the best they can do? How?

It's an awful choice but...

HW/LHW Champ (Cormier) - Wants to fight at the end of the year against Lesnar.
Middleweight (Whittaker) - Hurt
Welterweight (Woodley) - Just fought 228 and hurt.
Lightweight Nurma./Conor - 229 and 230 already feature 6 of the best lightweights so no extra options.
Featherweight (Max) - Announced for 232 iirc and was hurt for a long time.
Dillashaw (TJ) - Just fought 2 months ago.
Flyweight (Cejudo) - Just fought 2 months ago.

No male champs available. Female divisions are wack and boring outside of a lot of retread fights.

UFC showing they value worthless belts over simply making ranked fighters a main event.
