For those who think fans have no impact

another silly thread..geez. be glad when we are good a football again. don't give a crap what saban says or Einstein.
So you’re opposed to learning? Got it. Really no point in wasting time with someone who admits they won’t listen to a genius. And yes, I’m talking about Einstein.

I'm getting a bit tired of people who call themselves Vols fans bandying about Nick Saban as if we're somehow tied to him because we hired a guy who worked for Saban for awhile. Dooley worked for Saban too. What did that get us? Nick Saban wins because he gets the best players. We're not going to get the best players as long as he's getting them so doing everything the way he does it seems pretty stupid to me. Unless, that is, your ambition is to be runner up. If you 'aint the lead dog, the view never changes folks.

Because he’s arguably the best college coach of all time. You ever listened to someone smarter talk to you? You’re bound to learn something. The main takeaway from his speech, IMO, is that players will feed off the fans vibes even if they have been successful. It’s kind of even more embarrassing for Alabama fan considering their success. Anyways, a lot of players came here to play in front of our fans every Saturday and when we’re bitching and moaning cause we didn’t take the number 3 team to the woodshed....yeah, that’s gonna reverberate well.

And no, I’m not trying to say the team can’t improve. Try not to put those words in my mouth. I’m just saying, the players can and will feed off our energy.

Look at who they were playing...it played no difference. When they play a decent team the Bama fans/ like most other fanbases will show up. Blame the 12th regular season scrub game...not the fans.

Probably because he is one of the best college coaches to ever lead a team, and that team has been a pillar of success that is almost unprecedented in the history of college football. I'm not saying that everything Nick Saban says about college football is gospel, but when he speaks we should be smart enough to listen. If we don't listen to his words, then who should we listen to?
Fans don't make it miss blocks, fans don't make it miss tackles. We don't call plays. We don't play football. The players do. Does crowd noise matter? Yeah sometimes. I've been UT fan all my life. I've been to only a handful of games. I actually prefer to watch on TV. You think that makes me any less of a fan? Ok, fine. I could really care less what anyone thinks of me, especially Nick Saban.

aww bammer fans,I do remember when a bunch of them actually said that they had quit watching Football, when CPF kicked there asses for years, they were to embarrassed to answer the phone, aaah Glory Days, they will be back :)

I haven't read all the post but, all through the 1990's we regularly put 107,000+ with SRO tickets in Neyland. The networks know Tennessee is one of the most loyal fan bases anywhere. When it's football time in Tennessee, you know it from Memphis to the Tri-cities. Not as much recently but, you still see the orange and white and we're still hear waiting for our next decade of dominance.

That wasnt a shot at the team, its a shot at fans that constantly blame fans for the teams woos
And my post wasn’t a shot at that particular post at all. It’s just amazing how you’re always around and playing the contrarian, all while supposedly being a huge fan of the Vols. And no, I’m not questioning your fandom, I’m just saying it seems awfully miserable....unless you enjoy being a smug dolt.

UT fans have been showing up even against the ETSUs and UTEPs of the world.

Of course that's your next chance to witness a win....😁

The question you responded to asked.... Why UT fans should care what Nick says?

As a UT fan, what good does it do UT for me to listen to Nick?

Check out what the demigod, Nick Saban, had to say, even with all their sucess

Fans do have an impact at certain cases and sometimes they identify areas in which changes are needed. However, I don't think that Alabama is going to change what
Saban is doing there. I also think that fans can be destructive to a program and that may be the reason Tennessee finds itself in the situation we now find ourselves . I think the fans were responsible for the coaching change in basketball in that CM was fired with because of the petition which called for his head. He was/is a pretty good coach and I think he would have been a good coach at Tennessee. However, as it turns out, we would not have been able to pick up CB and I doubt that we would be rated as highly as we are this year. In the long run, things probably worked out for the better.

Can the fans have an impact on a football game? Yes, I certainly believe they can. Not alot but some effect.

The problem here, other than me not caring at all what Saban has to say, is the massive difference in the conditions of UT and Bama programs. There's alot "bigger fish to fry" right now than fan support and the effects of the fans. We need to have the right coach and staff (hopefully we do now), then the talent needs pulled to UT and coached up with a good scheme etc.

As bad of shape as this team is in on the field, worrying about the fans is like having a river dam burst and bitching about a bad light bulb in the office.

Saban is notorious for finding something to b1tch about that takes the focus off his team steam rolling everybody.

Not much to see here.

Funny that Bammer fans aren't so attracted to watching Saban grind another juco team into the Bryant-Denny turf. Guess they don't have 5-star hearts.

It honestly doesn't take Nick Saban saying it for us to know that fans can impact a team.

That Tennessee fans can impact our Vols.
  • We impact them by showing up for Vol Walk.
  • We impact them by sharing positive energy. filling the stadium and NOT booing (boos don't come with address labels; no matter who or what you boo, some players are going to think it's directed at them....that's just human nature. So don't).
  • We impact them by making it tough for opposing teams to communicate. Noise, from the stands.
  • We impact them every time a fan posts a response to a player or coach on Twitter. In Facebook. To email.
  • We impact them with what we say when we run into them at the mall, or in a restaurant.
  • We impact them indirectly in the ways we interact with their parents, brothers, cousins, or uncles on VN.com.
So yeah, there are a host of ways we impact our lads and coaches. Some of which folks here will deny, because they don't want to admit they've done a lousy job with some of it.

Nick Saban or no Nick Saban.

Go Vols!
