Competitive. Winning. Can I win a championship there? Not yet. Not much. Not soon.

UT and PruittCo haven't turned the corner yet. We'll see how we look against Auburn.
My guess is we get Wright and we’ll cycle a couple of our lower ranked guys out for better players.

It’s going to get better for sure. I’m still optimistic just a tad bit surprised we’re not higher because I’ve always felt Jeremy Pruitt was one of the top recruiters in the southeast

Jimbo’s class is also already full. We’re sitting at 20 (really 18 assuming Cox and Beasley are out) and we’re in on a lot of top guys like Wright, Watson, Gray, Jammie, Khafre, Norton, Pappoe, Crouch, and others. There’s also no telling who may emerge as signing day draws near.

Hard, sure. But I thought we’d be at that level.

I don’t think recruits care about program history all that much. Tennessee should check all legitimate boxes for top guys:

Do you have the money to pay me what other programs are offering? Check.
Are you a good recruiting staff? Check.
Do you have a track record of getting players to the NFL? Check.
Can you offer playing time? Check.

Gonna have to find a way to win a couple games we’re not supposed to before we finally turn the corner.

They generally don't get rated as high as skill players. Their potential is harder to gauge.

Yep. This might be old news but I thought I remember seeing like 28 of the top 100 players were WR. That’s crazy.

I’ll take all the big, physical 320lb SEC bodies we can get this year

Yep, that's about right. Several recruits that seemed possible now seem less so. Focus has shifted to other targets. Adding Wright, Gray, Moore and Robinson and hanging on to Morris, Keyton and others would be a very good class. Just need to be more competitive and show we're improving by finishing strong to set us up for 2020.

Smith going after the guy that dirty shot JG shows a unity and a toughness that you’re not going to do that to our guy especially our QB.

I can stomach that flag imo.

Just ear holing someone down field for no reason when the play is over and isn’t even looking is just stupid and fake tough to me. That’s why i had. A problem with the the tweet that said he was “doing work”.
Oh ok, that’s alot more understandable haha

and that player for Colombia that got killed for an own goal in the 90's, one of the world cups i think, wasn't it escobar?

Andres Escobar. He was a legitimate world class central defender. I was watching the USA-Colombia game live during the 1994 World Cup, and the result sent the USA into the knockout rounds, which no one expected us to do. Unfortunately a lot of cartel members in Colombia lost a lot of money gambling on the result of that match, and he was killed in retribution by an angry criminal who had lost money that game.

These days, cartels don't kill athletes. Too much bad press and ends up bringing a lot of heat from the government. What a lot of these South American cartels are doing is kidnapping the family members of pro athletes. Lots of MLB players and soccer players in Europe have had this happen. Usually the family members end up being released unharmed after a hefty ransom is paid. Kidnap and ransom risk management services are some of the fastest growing portfolios for brokers like Marsh and Aon.

If we sign the top 2 OT in the country and 6-7 OL total, idgaf where we finish in the recruiting rankings jmo
Agree. I’m not really worried about recruiting outside of Oline. We likely have our future in the secondary. I doubt anyone will play over Callaway, Jennings, Chandler, JG, DWA, next year. If we want to recruit well for the future it starts with showing improvements and if our Oline improves we could win 8 next year imo.

I wouldn’t mind if we took 20 guys on the Oline and Dline lol

I really thought Pruitt and this staff would have us recruiting at that level. Maybe my expectations were too high.
If they're really going to have us in contention for championships in this league we're really going to be cracking the top five fairly often. I'm sure folks will disagree, but UGA, Bama, and A&M will all almost assuredly coach their guys up just as good if not better than our coaches will. If our players aren't as good, we can't compete on their level.

None of this “depth class” BS that people deluded themselves into rationalizing.

Pruitt is one of the top recruiters anywhere...That should tell you how hard it is to recruit to UT right now. This program has become a running joke to most people.

Locklear had a small meniscus tear and had surgery. Pruitt said he would be out a few weeks.
That sucks, but at least it's not an ACL. Those can often take up to 2 years to get back to normal. Hope he has a full and speedy recovery.
