We just played the number 2 team in the country and UGA should have easily hung 50 on us. They still put up 38 but we are young and rebuilding with a new coaching staff. We are still missing too many tackles so there are improvements to be made. For the amount of time the defense was on the field today(pretty much the whole game) I have to commend them for their effort. It was refreshing not only to see them fight but to know we have a functioning defense. Unfortunately the same can't be said about the offense for now.

Good job defense!

I don't necessarily think they played a ton better, maybe a little here and there, but man its amazing what that effort / fight can do to effect they way you see things going forward.

Edit: dline was much better.

D Taylor played exceptionally better, loved his fight and disturbing things up on his side. Did see way too many missed tackles, especially by Kirkland, not sure if hes still 100% tho, he just doesn't look the same as before the injurys.

Yep. 7 of those came from a fluke fumble bounce and the last TD was a tack on for rankings when we weren't back in the game. We gave them a fight for quite some time and that was my clue the trend has changed for the better. And CJP's almost teary eyed presser says to me he saw it before we did. They're not quitting and starting to get it. Bye Butch. Good riddance.

VERY proud of the defense, even with some pathetic tackling.
As LifeVol pointed out, 14 of those points were not the result of Georgia overwhelming us with awesome play. I know that's still points on the board...but at this point in Pruitt's career at Tennessee, I'm looking at the overall picture and (happily) seeing our defense coming along well.
Let's give him a chance to get more of "HIS" players on the field. That will allow "HIS" offense to work better, get some 1st downs, give the defense time to catch their breath and perhaps tackling will improve.

Fromm missed at least 3 guys who were wide open for touchdowns, and yet they still had 250 yards rushing and almost 450 total. I was more proud that we took better care of the ball. Only 1 turnover instead of 6. If we could have done that against Florida, we may have had a real chance against them. That was the biggest difference I saw, that and finally throwing the ball to Ty Chandler out of the backfield.

I thought they played well, well, better than I expected. But, I was left wondering if Kirby let up once he knew he had control. He and Pruitt are old buddies. But, this is one game I could watch again.

I honestly don’t think the defense played very well at all. Just don’t see it.

If the offense was any better they could probably end that SEC losing streak later in the year. May do it anyway but it's going to be a struggle. They need to win one at least somewhere..

There are some glaring issues on the defense but its been hard to really see the improvement due to how poorly the offense has been. If you take away the turnovers against Florida and if the offense sustains some drives in the 1st half and the defense gets lucky on those bounces against Georgia, we would really be bragging on them.

TBH I thought the oline played better as well. Yea I know they had nowhere but up to go but I didnt see JG on his butt or running for his life all day, against the #2 team in the country mind you.. Maybe I have drank too much coffee this morning :)

Somewhere over the rainbow, there's an SEC win just waiting for UT to claim, I can just feel it, can't you?

I don't think that Kirby ever lets up. He has a very good team, but I expected them to score at least 45 or more points. Some of their scores were either a fluke or short field score after our turnover by out 4th team running back. I think we played our twos more than kirby did and their depth is much more talented and experienced than ours. I think we played better than we did in any of the first 4 games. However, The offense has more room to improve than the defense and them keeping the defense off the field is crucial. One distrubing thing I did see on defense was that sometimes when the runner gets past the LOS, the Dline did not hustle down field and try to catch up with the play. I saw one play where one Dlineman just strolled back and if he had husteled, he could have prevented a TD. I will not identify the player, but I do not like to see any player loaf when on the field.

Yes. That had to have been Taylor's best game of his career, and it was against one of the best teams in the country.
