What marks success against GA

Success against UGA? If we can stay within 35 or so, thats good. I would like to see the OL and TEs actually block even halfway decent. Past that, there is no success that can be attained against UGA. We are so mismatched its not even funny.

College football does happen, just not to this team it seems... whens the last time we pulled a legit upset? Like beat a top 10 team when we weren’t even ranked? I like your optimism, wish I could muster some, just don’t see it happening. I expect to get slaughtered without so much as a whimper from this team as we’ve become accustomed to. For the record I hope your right and I hope I’m very wrong.
I read in this forum our last victory over a top 10 team (ranked at the time we played) was 2005.

Yep.... just checked it myself. Though they did finish 4th. Kind of misleading, that was still a great upset win.
It was. I was SO optimistic about CBJ back then. Love how Spurrier never beat him. I think CBJ caused him to quit mid season.

So, i guess the 2005 stat is technically correct. Sobering.

Ok I’ve calmed down from the debacle that was the Florida game and regardless of our situation I love watching my Vols. My hope is to see improvement this year each game, which is why I think last weekend was so disappointing as we didn’t see any but rather regression imo.

What are you hoping to see this weekend to mark as successes and what will you take as encouraging glimpses?

I’m really just hoping to see us bounce back from a team aspect, better protection on the OL and a continued improving pass rush. I think that happened last week a bit because of improvement in the secondary.

What do y’all say?
Maybe let these two take over offensive play calling?

I had high hopes for Butch until Texas A&M in '16... that was just two years ago. We were riding high. Wow, how things can change.

It seems like a dream we we were 5-0 headed into College Station. Had a bad case of the turnovers that day too. Course, unlike last week, we blamed the coach. Even with those mistakes we almost beat them.
Exciting game.

I just made myself sad. Hold me?

Be competitive. Don’t get embarrassed. Look competent and disciplined. Don’t lose by 32 points or 45 points. Make the score respectable, something like 31-17. Just freaking compete for once.

What was Cal ranked in 2006?

When JG gets knocked down, I want to see one of his teammates throw out a hand to help him up. Build some team unity and act like a football team instead of some football players!

One of those turnovers was pure BS too. There was clear targeting on Berry on a kick return that knocked him out and he dropped the ball. Instead of #12 for A&M being ejected and us getting 15 yards we had to watch A&M score on a short field. Then the next kickoff one of our guys tried to retaliate against #12 and he was called for an unsportsmanlike penalty. It was complete BS and the pure definition of home cooking by the officials.

1 Ball security
2 No missed assignments
3 No penalties
4 Minimize lateral running
5 Win the turnovers battle
6 Win the field position battle
7 Tackling technique

At this point, I'd call it a success if we didn't have to play the game on CBS...can't they just bring back Jefferson Pilot cable for one game and put us over on some obscure channel no one can find to keep us out of the limelight of the beat down.

Seriously, I'd call it the most mild of success if we can execute a little better than the FL game and win the turnover battle.

Solid execution, and beating the smelly dogs by 10 will suffice.
