Well if you discount the best 13 seasons of any elite program they wouldn’t be as elite of a program as you’d think. What the hell kind of statement is that 😂😂.
We're not in the same league as an Ohio State, FSU, Texas, Bama, LSU, USC, UGA, OU, etc. Just not convinced Tennessee can be one of the big boys.

Georgia is the new Florida. UT dealt with UF when it was a championship program, so having dual elite teams in the SECE isn't anything new. There is greater parity in the SEC now, and to some degree, that's here to stay. But other programs are rising above it and UT has the resources to do the same. We're the only Big 6 SEC program that has backslid this hard, for this long. It's inexcusable... but it doesn't have to be permanent.

Here's the kicker, though-- we have a window of opportunity. Fulmer is our ticket to getting back to the upper echelons. He's the one with the vision, the passion and the clout to make it happen. When he goes, there go the resources and the drive for greatness within the university. When that window closes-- and it will-- then it's going to be much tougher.

I was thinking about this last night. From basically 2001 to now, we have given up the four and five stars in our recruiting radius to Georgia and Clemson, and our depth to South Carolina and Kentucky.

Watching highlights from this weekend, it occurred to me that if this were the late 90s, Fulmer would have recruited a big chunk of UGA’s line (including Mays) and at least one of their RBs, and Clemson’s passing game (Lawrence, Higgins, Rodgers).

These things come in cycles. I think the best thing that could happen is Saban to retire and Dabo to replace him. Because a good Clemson is kicking our recruiting base out from under us.

And how much longer do you think anybody honest, and in their right mind would have been able to call Pruitt a "bottom of the barrel" hire?

After having yet another great probably #1 defense this year? How long do you think it would have been before he was a hot commodity that we couldn't touch with a ten foot pole because nobody in their right kind would want to coach this bunch when they had better choices. Everybody, even Kirby Smart, acknowledges JPs prowess as a football mind.

Doc, enjoy your posts, as well, and have nothing but respect for you, man.

I just posted to InVOL, if you want to check it out. It just sums up my thoughts on the matter. We all are frustrated, and disgusted, and disappointed. I hate it, but it's reality. We can either hang in there, or...not, I guess.

One thing I did want to ask though: you talk about moving on; yet, isn't that a bit contradictory, considering your penchant for going page to page with the biggest troll in here?
Yep, but I did post earlier about putting certain posters on ignore. I might or might not have included the poster to which you are referring. But, you are correct, I did not let it go for a long time.

Pruitt has proven nothing. There are plenty of good coordinators who can't hack it as head coaches.

Mullen has proven a lot at a school that is traditionally terrible at football.

As of right now, Mullen >>>>>>> Pruitt
I don't understand why people don't understand this. Our coach could be Bozo and folks would argue he's a better coach and than just about everybody other than Saban.

Because other schools dont have the trouble in their admin as TN does. Name one school in the power 5 that has had half of the issues TN has had with their admin and their lack of caring to win

It was terrible-- but that's the past. UT has a new AD and a new board-- even the President and Chancellor will be different. Fulmer has gotten funding for every single thing Pruitt has requested. Pruitt was allowed to hire every staffer he wanted-- even overpaying Tyson Helton to get him to UT. He was allowed to rip out the old weightroom and rebuild and re-equip it, and it's NFL-caliber. Even the field looks better. Pruitt gets everything he wants from a resources and facilities standpoint, so UTAD really isn't the impediment going forward.

Jealous of you guys who were alive when Tennessee was good.

I saw the bad (Johnny Major's first few years) --- then the good (mid-80s with Johnny) --- then the GREAT (late Majors and most of Fulmer's tenure) --- and now the bad again.

Our time will come again. We just need the right coach and plenty of fan and booster support. It's all cyclical. Our time in the desert has been too long, though.

Tennessee is #12 in all time win%, #2 in the SEC and .025 ahead of the next team and that’s with us being 58-57 the past decade
The dawgs are getting ready to pass us in SEC titles. If things don't change, they'll be the new number two to Bama in this league traditionally.

Great coordinator fails as head coach. A not unprecented narrative in football. Not saying that will happen here, and certainly not hoping for it to. But a DC with no HC experience was not what we needed at the time, in my opinion. It’s done now, so I’m hoping for the best.

Edited to say, yes, I realize Pruitt was a DC, not an OC. My bad.

I Would bet the article is wrong. The transfer rules didn't eliminate sitting out a year for redshirts.

I am not going to get into a debate about it. The media could be wrong, but the OK article probably looked into it before publicizing. You can use your redshirt year when you transfer, so why would this be any different? It's the same thing.

Agreed. This hire was a huge gamble, but it was probably the best we could do at the time and given the circumstances.

It's unbelievable that TPTB botched another coaching change. If Fulmer had been AD from day one of the 2017 season, I think we make a bowl game due to Jones getting canned much sooner (which prevents the team's mindset from completely imploding and carrying over into 2018) and we would have a proven P5 head coach right now.

Possibly but as of rn UT is still #2. This is our worst decade in school history, we’ll see where we’re at when we rebound.

Maybe. Pruitt was pretty bottom of the barrel last cycle (although he was the best of the 3 candidates Fulmer trotted out). That’s why I hope he succeeds, and I’m not calling for him to be fired in any respect. I just haven’t seen anything mind-changing yet. Saying “aight,” doesn’t move the needle with me.
"Goon Squad" lol. Freaking stupid

Guys, we still ya e a hell of a shot at a bowl game. I understand turnovers are part of the game but we win that game if we even only had 2 of them. 6 was a guaranteed loss and hell if Pope scores and we got that onside I’d say we would’ve scored a again but that’s neither here nor there. We’re about to take some real ass kickings these next few weeks but Pruitt is a winner and he gonna change this ****** attitude on this team. IMO we have every opportunity out there to still win 7 this year, will we probably not but there’s a chance. These guys just gotta keep learning and hopefully keep progressing a little at a time bc it should start clicking hopefully. I feel a lot better about our team now then I did when butch was in charge. Idk why I just said all this but I’m a believer in Pruitt and we gotta have his back.

UF is a terrible roster too. They went 4-7 last year for a reason. The culture went to crap there just like here. There isn't a ton of separation.
It is kinda funny all preseason alot of VN was like “how is Florida receiving hype they’re as bad or worse than us!!” “Mehlan is terrible, I can’t wait to prove us not getting him was great”
