Did what we witnessed Saturday suck? Absolutely. Do I question whether we will win an SEC game this year? Absolutely.

Many of us wanted to believe that the 4-8 record last year was simply due to Butch Jones' awful mismanagement of the program and somehow the moment we got a real football coach in here, we'd win again. We overlooked the fact that the SEC isn't what it once was in the 90's and early 2000's and truly believed that we'd be back sooner rather than later. I for one fell for the preseason idea that we could easily be 4-0 at this point in the season. The thing is, Jeremy Pruitt took a job that nobody in the country wanted. It's hard for many including myself to come to grips with that fact, but it's reality. A dumpster fire administration coupled with a talent lacking football team made this job very unattractive to many, but not Jeremy Pruitt. He has stones. We saw it when he went for it against West Virginia on 4th and Goal, and we saw it with the onside kick on Saturday. Regardless of the results on those gambles (1/2), he's showing us already the culture that he is building at Tennessee. The losses suck, not having talent sucks, but give this man the time you gave the previous coaching staff and 5 years from now we will be winning the East.

Id say give him 10 years. maybe we can be an 8-4 team on regular basis with a 10-11 win team every now and then

If he wins I don't care if he's a squirrel. This ten year rebuild got old when Dooley was roaming the showers.

Everything is contingent on winning. He wins he's the guy, he doesn't then he's not the guy.

We will have a good idea if he's capable of being the guy by the end of this season and all doubt will be removed at the end of year 3.

We only need about 15 more of these threads and everyone will be convinced.

Nothing in the op points to proof that CJP is the guy. Having "stones" doesnt make anyone a great /good coach. Fact is noone knows how effective jp will be as a head coach.

I'm not one for making a snap judgment against Pruitt, 4 games into his first season, but why do we have to go polar opposite? Why did we have to decide, 4 games into his first season, that Pruitt is definitely "the guy"?

He has a 6-year contract, he'll get plenty of time to show everyone what he's capable of as a HC.

I agree, by end of the second season we should have a good idea.
Also, I didn't say he was the guy. I said he was a guy in my failed attempt at sarcasm..

Today’s world is all about the now...instant gratification...gimme, gimme, gimme...

Unfortunately...
Instant gratification? Did I just dream the last 10 plus years? For 10 years I’ve been told to be patient, here we are 10 years later in exponentially worse shape than when I was first told to be patient. Yes, this fanbase is a bunch of instant gratification whiners.

Sorry, I missed the sarcasm.

I think we'll have a decent idea whether he is or isn't by the end of this season. If we go 0-for in the SEC and get boat raced by Vandy, my guess is that he's not the guy.

I am pretty sure I read a similar post when Derek Dooley took over and then again when Butch Jones took over. Meaning we are in a vicious circle.
