Hank from what you know about the program and your connections I have a question if you dont mind.
Dd you think Pruitt will be able to turn things around and if so how long will it take?

He and fulmer both without a doubt know what a championship program looks like and how it operates. Which makes me feel like he has just as good of a chance as anybody.

Typical McGill over reaction. No one is calling for them to be fired. There's absolutely nothing wrong pointing out when they screw up. But they make major bank so let's make sure we don't dare critisize them. Now the kids that bleed and sweat on the field for a scholarship, they're fair game.
Yep. He loves ranting about a point that nobody has made.

i do agree with this.

i think the thing we all now really know is just how far away we are, and this isn't a 2 year fix.

it's at least 3-4, and even then, it may take that long just to get to the point we're competitive at the middle of the conference, much less at the top.

Isn't JG hurt?
I wasn't focusing on the injury so much as style of play . JG is tough and has a better arm. Chryst is more of a dink and dunk type QB. JG imo is too tough for his own good and does hold onto the ball too long sometimes. Chryst is more athletic than I thought but hasn't really shown he has a good fastball in his limited reps.

I for one don't want to see JG carried out on his shield. I think he is a young QB with traits that don't mesh with a suspect Oline. Chryst may be the better option for now. Not saying he has lit it up in his limited playing time or done anything spectacular to take the job.

JG is tough, yes. JG is not a winner. He does not have the fortitude to will his team to a win. He wilts under the pressure. I love the kid but it is what it is. Let's ride with a QB who has at least proven to be a winner. Flame away I really don't care.

Kentucky has the #1 rushing offense in the SEC after 4 weeks. Below is Kentucky’s starting offensive line. They’ve given up 21 TFLs including 4 sacks so far this season. We’ve given up 32 TFLs including 6 sacks. Our rushing offense ranks #5 in the conference right now. Miss state was allowing 85 rushing yards per game through the first 3 games; Kentucky hit them for 229 and 4 TDs.

I'm thinking the same. Not saying that JG can't find that "put the team on my back" attitude. He just doesn't have it currently.

While I do think this is true, the same could be said for Spurrier when he vouched for both Muschamp and McElwain or when the Texas boosters hired Charlie Strong. All parties had been intimately involved in championships but in all cases it didn’t work out.

The margins are razor thin.

The safety was a dive play. You never try to bounce outside at your own goaline.

I don’t think JG never being able to feel backside pressure or moving in the pocket is directly related to coaching. It’s sometbkng he’s struggled with all year.

What was the 2nd turnover again?
Great points Hank. JG should be able to see the blitz coming from the blind side before the play starts, but he doesn't. The line has played poor, but JG hasn't helped. I wonder if he even watches pro football. Matt Stafford was pointing out blitzes all night vs the Pats to help his line and RBs. JG just goes to the line and calls the play without any regard to what he sees.

If you watch again his path got altered he should’ve never been behind the guy that intercepted it. He should’ve been more towards the middle of the field which would’ve been directly behind his two blockers.
He voluntarily went to the right. His path was never altered by any UF player, If he ran the wrong path that’s on him not JG. He easily could have turned directly around after breaking the LOS, Instead he cut to the right on his own as soon as he broke the LOS

3rd and 7 is a pretty common down lol. You’re gonna have those occasionally over the course of the game. We had an extra blocker there to pick up the blitz, he didn’t. JG didn’t recognize it or feel it. Not sure how that’s coaching.

I’m not gonna say something falls back on coaching Bc a certain player is in. Especially this early into a tenure. So Jordan being in, is what it is.

On the toss play... we hadn’t got a push all game on the interior line, so doing a quick toss there is fine with me. Once again i think London is good so that doesn’t matter.

I think it’s really easy to dog on Helton right now. He didn’t have a good game by any means but having a really bad OL and mediocre QB is a tough spot for any playcaller.

Having third down over and over again after two run plays is not common for success. The percentages go way up for a conversion with third and short.

Flat out, the play calling sucked, especially in the first half. I am not calling for anyone to be fired, but it is just wasn’t a good night for Helton.

Here is a thing i noticed after rewatching the game on TV:

The turnover play on the strip sack/interception.

1. Jordan blows a blocking assignment. No doubt about it.

2. The ball should’ve been out already. This Just a simple clear out concept. The wr in the flat is already open, so JG has to do better at anticipating that.

And it’s 3 WR’s on 4 DB’s and plenty of field. The two LB’s on the opposite end up rushing to the LOS and are totally out of the defensive backfield.

Nobody on this team has the "put the team on my back" attitude. The team is rudderless and has been for two years. That's just part of the problem, but it's a significant part.
agreed.
...and that is the primary job of the QB before anyone else.
agreed, but it doesn't have to be the QB. but it can be a lot easier if it is.

also agree, i wasn't all that impressed with the play calling, it felt like to me we had a game plan, and once we got down 14, and things changed, we scrapped teh game plan, and had no plan b. also part of the reason i think we looked really desperate in the 2nd qtr.

as for the down and distance, i made the statement late last week that our 1st down offense would be important. and we were not good on 1st down. we were losing the field position battle, and we could not get on, nor stay on schedule with the chains.

and if that continues, it's going to be hard to do much offensively.

The scapegoating of the coaches has begun i full force...burn em all..amirite? Let's hurry up and get our next hated ex-coaching staff up in here.

We finally have a staff of proven football guys if nothing else, and you freakin dumbasses want to burn em already for having a hard time getting a bunch of hardheaded, football stoopid q******s to execute the simplest of plays.

The problem is and was the players. Give these guys some football smart go getters, and it will amaze all of you how smart they all suddenly become.

Lol. No one has said this. I would like to see the offensive coaches at least try to succeed instead of running a RB into the back of our offensive line every two downs.

Maybe one of our guys can talk to some of the Georgia offensive linemen this weekend and ask them if one of them could get some payback on CeCe for us, since we are too soft and wussified to do anything about it.

We'll be lucky if UGA guys don't try the same thing this week. Got a feeling things aren't going to go our way between the hedges.

Dogs protect their QB from cheap shots. I thought Taylor Lewan was literally going to eat Richard Sherman last year when he hit Mariota out of bounds. Our lineman just stood there, weak and silent as Jefferson pretty clearly attempted to injure JG. The absolute state.

Foreword for most of you: tl;dr, feel free to scroll right past it...I've just got to get some stuff off my chest.

I maintained all last week that I had zero confidence in winning the game, with my sentiment being based solely on how we've played Florida for the past 20 years. Because if my expectations had been set based on the two current teams, I would have had a reasonable hope for a win. That Florida team is trash.

All that being said, even going into the game with no expectations, it was a demoralizing defeat. From the perspective of athletes and performance, we are now Vanderbilt. The only difference is our fanbase (or what's left of it) and history. My God I hope those two things are enough to accelerate a resurgence, though I really have doubts that it's even possible.

I live in Georgia, and I'm not a crap talker...I wasn't even when we were a dominant team. There's just something in me that doesn't feel right about giving someone sh!t because of who they root for. For those of you that also live in enemy territories, you know that politeness is rarely returned in kind. Saturday was particularly rough for me (and I use the word "rough" loosely, and with complete perspective that my "rough" day was nothing compared to real-life rough days that countless people around the world deal with 24/7). As I was out and about running errands, etc., in my orange "I will give my all for Tennessee today" t-shirt, I dealt with assholes at almost every stop. At the grocery store, a guy in a GA shirt says, "Go Gators." I guess my facial expression was enough that the guy's wife knew that I didn't appreciate the ribbing, so she says, "he's just kidding." To which he replies, "yeah, I don't really care who wins, I hate both of you."

It just makes you wonder why you even try. We are such good fans, evidenced by the fact that we're still around in spite of the absolute horse-sh!t that we've been served for the past 10+ years.

I thought I had really been conditioned to not let the losses get to me, we've had so many that I really felt that I'd obtained a very healthy perspective on it and was able to move on quickly. But this one is different. I'm down about it and am having a hard time getting over it. We are going to get annihilated for the next three games and, after that, I don't know what will be left of our team (physically and mentally) to compete with the teams that we might otherwise have had a chance at stealing a win.
