Really makes you wonder how good of a coach Fulmer was at his best. The only guy to get Tennessee to THAT level in 40 years.
Yeah it really is as simple as paying top dollar for your coach. UT doesn’t do that in any sport really. I think Barnes pay was pretty good when he was hired but that was a unique circumstance. And they should learn from that precedent because it worked.Majors was really good but it’s all about the right coach. Tennessee has hired three under qualified candidates. Alabama did the same thing and finally hired a big time mover. That’s why UT is where it’s at. Simple as that.
As always, my belief is that playcalling is overrated, both for good and for ill. Not saying Helton's blameless but there should be no safer call in the playbook than running behind Trey Frigging Smith on the goal line and yet we took a safety out of it. The OL is garbage.
Most deflating and disappointing loss since what, Florida 37 UT 20 in Derek Dooley's last year? It's been awhile.

I didn’t either and we would have thrown a fit had John Currie hired him.I was like 50/50 on Pruitt and I’m sure I’ll get raked over the coals for my opinion but I saw nothing tonight that showed me he is an SEC head coach. They looked completely lost from the get go.
Disagree. We don’t play with the big dogs in the coaching carousel because our athletic director is hamstrung in fund by the BOT.This is absolutely not the problem. We don't end up with unproven coaches because we're not willing to pay for them; we end up with unproven coaches because they're the only ones who will take the job. And if Pruitt fails it's only going to get worse.

But they didn’t. Okie State outbid us every step.
I understand that we do also have an issue where this job doesn’t attract top talent. But money talks - even if you have to get ridiculous about it.
