Like I said I think no matter what happens in the game tomorrow it’s going to feel like a long season after the next 3 games followed by a tough game at USCjr. If we dominate Florida like we did Cal then we should all be ecstatic, but also remember Florida might be the worst SEC team we play this year.

I agree that the end result of the season would probably be 6-7 wins but I would see it as a Vols team improving and gaining confidence and a Florida team that’s either regressing or stagnant. These teams are eerily similar and the winner will tell a whole lot about the state and mentality of the 2 programs. If we lose at home against this Florida team I will be very worried for the future.

I’m on the fence. You know Pruitt would hate that lol
I would, too. But, every practice we can get, we need to take it. Bummer to make postseason that way...but, more practice time to grow and get better as a team and program. No rings though, if we happen to win.

I tried using this as a writing prompt, but it's useless.

All depends on how Carolina, Mizzou, Kentucky, and Vandy shake out down the stretch. Maybe I'm just mentally exhausted to the point of stalemate thinking about it.

Basically, to channel my inner Madden, if we beat Florida, we're one win closer to a bowl game.

The next conventionally beatable opponent is Carolina, and they could easily lose three of their next four. But that doesn't guarantee they don't get their heads screwed on straight during their bye week right before our game.

I was asking more about a dominant performance by either them or us. I think most of us think this will be a close game, but if it’s not, does that change opinions?

Isnt it partially an academic thing too?
I could be wrong but I thought if there were a lot of 5-7 teams they really only took the "best" of those teams. I cannot see this team limping to 5-7 and any of our victories looking like great wins. I think we'd be attractive for the Tix sales tho.

What is everyone's reaction going to be if we completely dominate this game on both sides of the ball from start to finish like Cal 2006? Do you think we finally turned a corner or Florida is just that bad?
On the flip side, what is everyone's reaction if we get dominated the entire game and lose badly? Florida is better than we thought, or we're really just that bad and going to be a really long season?

If we dominate Florida— even this Florida team— then we are a pretty good team and are really coming into form.

If we get dominated, then this is going to be a long year.

I agree. Good news is no one expected much from us this year. Bad news for Florida is a lot of folks for whatever reason thought they would compete for the East. If they lose to us and start out 0-2 in the SEC.......I’m willing to bet Mehlen hears about it. A lot more pressure on him tomorrow than Pruitt.

Saban intentionally playing Hurts enough games so he can’t use a redshirt.
If Hurts is stupid enough to let Saban screw him over like this...I mean he is responsible for letting this happen to him. The devil is doing what is best for himself..he doesn't give a spit about Hurts.

I do not understand why kids go play for a bastard like that.

If we dominate, I'll feel a little better about our chances against SC/Miz/UK/VU.. but it'd have to be like a 35-10 blowout. Winning by 14 wouldn't be dominant, unless it's another shut out. Even then, only scoring 14 against their defense would still be cause for concern. If we win 35-10, I'd "expect" us to win 3 of those 4 swing games, bringing us to 7-5 (4-4).

If they dominate, well, I haven't even considered that. I'd be probably full negavol (wouldn't be as outward and annoying about it), probably gonna be anoterh 4-8 win year. At least to get to 4 wins, it'd mean a win against Vandy or Kentucky.

Can we all please chill out until Kentucky actually plays someone of note? Geez.
I don't care about who they play. I've seen enough of them to know that they are a sound team. They are going to probably get waxed by MSU tommorow, but that doesn't mean they are not a more fundamentally sound football team than we are..at least right now.

Bingo. Sound =/= unbeatable

Vandy is also sound-- reliable defense, good QB. Still beatable, and will likely have a losing record when we visit them. As could Kentucky when they come visiting.

You're right..Deserving a bowl has absolutely zero to do with it this year. It would be great just for those purely practical reasons.
