No these were the sanctions that the admin put into place before trump back peddled.

In other words, he's been at odds with his own administration on sanctioning Putin and it's not been anonymous.

I'm not following but I didn't read through the whole thread so no need to explain; I'm guessing I missed something.

In the bigger picture is the topic of the thread China and Russia strengthening their relationship best addressed by sanctioning Russia? What does that achieve? I see the general tone here that these two powers are wielding more influence in the world. What I don't understand is why the solution then is to weaken our relationship with both or at least one of them.
