I think he'll get drafted in the mid to late rounds and maker a roster. Based on his performances to date from his freshman year up until last week, he's alright, nothing special, could be a project for an NFL team. I keep waiting to see the beast get loose, he's a senior, I'm still waiting. I am not slamming his dedication, him personally, or his being a VFL especially because of his injuries and comebacks.

Khalil got drafted and you could barely find him on tape. Shy should be a mid to late round pick. He looks good so far this year.

Big difference between the 2. KMac never had severe knee injuries. A big guy like Tuttle, already playing on injured knees in college? Thats a tough one. He may play in the NFL. But his production will have to increase and his combine will have to be really good for him to play on Sundays.

Best D lineman to come through here in a while. His injury (caused by a cheap shot from Georgia lineman) has slowed him a bit but he could finish strong. I think he will get some playing time on Sundays. Khalil looks the part but thats about it.

Shy had a broke leg if I'm not mistaken. Not knee injuries.

He's the reverse Kahlil McKenzie. McKenzie belonged in a 3-4 as a NT and his skills were somewhat hidden in a 4-3 as a DT. Tuttle is better suited in a 4-3 as a DT than as a 3-4 NT.

Tuttle was an absolute beast before injuries, though, and I think some NFL team is smart enough to see that. NFL teams probably still has injury concerns, but he has extraordinarily high upside for a late round pick for the right team.

an nfl team can never have enough serviceable defensive or offensive lineman. He looks like he will be good playing in a 4-3 in the nfl.

Khalil has contacts in the NFL. His father is an NFL executive and his uncle played in the NFL. I am sure that somewhere in the Kansas City chain of command, we will find a friendship with that person and Khalil's dad.
Somewhere in there was a H.A.B.U. (Hook A Brother Up) friends help friends. (You owe me one friendship)
Tuttle will be another McCuller. He will be drafted and get a pay check will ride the bench on Sundays and collect a pay check. As long as some executive see's potential in him, he will make a roster.
Look at McCuller making Pittsburghs roster this season and Kendall Vickers didn't. Vickers is a better player than McCullers even though they play different positions.

If by holding his own you mean not really being a force thus fur against teams with average line play then yes I agree. I understand he is just one player but there isn't a person on either line thus far this season that looks even remotely elite

Shy has seemed to have more injury issues that even McCullers did. I think he either be drafted late, or will get a shot in FA, but don't see him making a roster. But if somebody has him do like Kahlil and switch to guard? Maybe.

I have been restraining my desire to comment this season until now, but here you go.

Shy will never play at the next level because of our current DL coaching. Go back and review the West Virginia game at 3:52 in the first quarter, and I will explain.

Shy is getting coached to play a two-gap defense. When your LBs can't get to the QB, and the QB has time to deliver the ball down field, it makes the entire defense look ineffective.
In this situation, and playing NT, your primary objective should be to penetrate the gap and force the QB to reset before he attempts the pass. This gives the entire defense time to adjust to the play.

It appears that our entire DL is getting coached to play a two gap scheme. When our LBs are so ineffective, this will not work. On every play, one defensive lineman should be given the assignment of getting into the backfield and pressuring the QB. This will give the LB and CBs time to react to the play. To date, I haven't seen any of our D linemen show violent hands and an ability to bring pressure. If you want an example of how to accomplish this, please see West Virginia's inside tackle on the first play. He uses a twist and swim move, and he is in the backfield before our center stands up.

When you play a two-gap scheme, it just gives the offensive linemen more time to combo block you. With ineffective LB play, this will not work.

It is what it is.

Well he's a nose guard so they don't get many tackles normally anyways. And he's second string, he plays.

You make a very good point. I forgot his dad was a GM. I still think Shy gets drafted though.
