Still think this oline has a long way to go and JG needs to not float his long balls so much, but happy with the way they came out of the delay. I think they’re learning to get the fight back.

We certainly saw some improvement today on defense.

I saw zero improvement on the day for the offense. In fact I think we took a step backwards
I disagree about offense. In the second half the O line was more agressive and imoosed their will like they should against a team like ETSU. Sure pass protection needs work but run blocking got a lot better. It alos helped that the backs quit trying to bounce everything outside

Today revealed to me that the problem with the offense is execution. Mental deficiencies. Because it’s clear that at least against this team, we are worlds more talented.

As Spurrier would say, we gotta get smarter.

Thompson got the start over fellow freshman Alontae Taylor this week at corner and flashed consistently. His interception was the obvious highlight, but he was around the ball consistently and wasn’t afraid to get physical in the run game.

Theo Jackson got his first start at safety and the guess is you’ll see more of him. He looked comfortable in that role and was definitely not afraid to mix it up

The most impressive newcomer to me today was probably junior college transfer Emmitt Gooden, who was a constant disruptive presence in the middle. He gave ETSU fits all afternoon long, getting pressure up the middle and drawing a couple of holding calls.

Offensively, I thought Jeremy Banks looked like he made an argument for more touches. The freshman looked like a quick, decisive and powerful runner who gets north and south in a hurry. It’s also safe to assume that Banks will get coached hard about ball security after an apparent fumble was overturned on official review.

Jordan Murphy looked good all fall camp and got involved today with three catches for 75 yards including a 50-yard score from Keller Chryst.

Speaking of Chryst, he looked more than serviceable in relief of Guarantano, going 3-for-3 for 70 yards and a touchdown.

3 take aways and 0 turnovers.

A touchdown in all the phases of Off, Def, ST.

Five rushing TDs and three backs having 4.3, 4.8 and 5.9 ypc

only ran 57 offensive plays it looks like surpassing 400 Yds.

Is there room for improvement? Of course. THATS THE POINT OF THESE. we have two weeks to improve and fix more before we play Florida.
All of this ☝️ up in here.
I believe we got exactly what all of us should have wanted today. Did OL struggle early, yes, absolutely; but, the one thing to keep in mind with the OL, they're still trying to figure out who the best 5 are, and what combination to put them in...these games are the games to do it, to iron out those kinks and get better. But, yes, they have to polish it up and get much better, no doubt. I believe they will. It kind of looks more like communication problems, rather than skill, idk though.
Also, we still have to do a much better job of SACKING the QB. We get good pressure at times, but we're not finishing it off. Pass rush, SACKS, still has to improve in a big way.
OL struggles early and coming up with SACKS, to me, only "negative" in my initial reaction. But, as I said, we got what we should have wanted out of today. A LOT of people played...doesn't look like we had any major injuries, that I know of...young DBs look like they're going to be legit...both QBs got good reps (QB battle is still on-going, imo)....LBs looked waaay better today...and Jeremy Banks. Just my initial reaction.
Oh! Also...NEVER...EVER...PLEASE LORD...let me find myself watching the Vols with McGill...please.
