I never got around to finishing my notes from my WVU rewatch... (until tonight.) Watched the first half Tues/Wed, fell asleep.

I think Shy and Alexis got better as time wore on. KP had some energy plays too, which hopefully will translate into production somewhere down the line. I'm still a little worried about DL but not necessarily those three.

Buchanan and Abernathy, I hate it because they're both great kids, but man, just an abysmal performance. Sub Sham for Abernathy, and keep Thompson in for Buchanan.. Really makes me wonder where the heck Osborne is on our roster.

Very impressed with Flowers. Would still like to see Jackson (maybe put him at Star and move Sham to Buchanan's CB spot?)

Very unimpressed with DKJr's performance.. he just seemed to get sucked into every single run block. Had the opportunity to shoot the gap on a 3rd and 1, but it was a falling Tuttle that made the tackle after the RB picked up the first down. I believe this was right after the half before they went up 20-7. Not to dog the leading tackler, but the opportunity was there for him to do more.

Biggest liabilities on D right now have to be Abernathy, Buchanan, Kongbo.
Non-factors are abound.
Most impressed with Flowers, Alontae, and Thompson, (un?)ironically enough.

Jackson did more in his 1-2 drives than Abernathy did all game. Let the kid play. He laid a big hit then another big hit they caused the fumble. He had the pick in spring game. Maybe the kid just a gamer

Dobbs.

Some kids are just like that. Sometimes you gotta trust it to be more boom than bust.

I liked Jahmir Johnson's game for the most part. He made a few mistakes, but he is a very aggressive blocker and I saw him getting downfield and hitting LBs on a couple of TJ runs. As he continues to get comfortable so the game slows down for him, and he gets stronger, I think he is going to be a very solid player.

It was really tricky reading the numbers via youtube, especially along the OL.. Overall I'm decently comfortable with the offense. There were times we could have had more push, and things will be different with BK out now, but that wasn't my concern.

I was mainly focused on our defense and how many of those TD's were given up because there's no defense for a perfect throw, versus how bad is the secondary.

he kinda has to be with this team, this year. i think there's a lot of kids on this team that lack confidence.

you hear coaches talk about having to break them down, to build them back up. i think the breaking down part was taken care of before he got on campus.

he has to be mindful of what this team's psyche is. lack of confidence can be a killer, and sometimes the last thing these kids need is another person telling them they suck.

i think he's been honest with them. i think he's continuing that by playing who he's playing right now. at some point, the lightbulb has to go off for them on what the expectation is vs. their current performance. the coaches' job is help them make up the difference between the two. and i think that's what he's doing, w/out being a d**k about it. just telling them the most consistent players in practice will play. and he's sticking to it.

Been very surprised how he’s handled this. The guy is a good teacher and to be a good teacher, you have to know more than just the material.

Signed up for The Athletic free trial earlier today, the six part story on Pruitt was outstanding. Sounds like Mississippi State, Maryland and Vanderbilt all tried to hire him as a head coach. Also didn't know that he had his pick to be the defensive coordinator at USC, Michigan, and Alabama after Richt was fired.

Agree sort of. I'd rather Jackson than Abernathy but not at the expense of setting the tone for our practice culture early under Pruitt. Letting that happen would only lead to others slacking thinking they could get away with it like they did under butch.

Yep. Short term it kinda sucks cause we see the result in the field.

Long term... You have to be consistent first, if you ever have a prayer of your team following suit.

I would rather see anyone at safety besides Abernathy. He can’t cover, tackle, takes horrible angles. Heck, Tuttle would be better at safety.
