My biggest concern after watching last night is the offense. I did not see much difference at all between Clawson and Cutcliffe. The biggest problem is that Clawson is not letting Crompton play his game. Crompton is not a guy like Ainge thats going to sit in the pocket and pick apart a defense. Crompton sees the field and makes better decisions when he is on the run outside of the pocket. Clawson only rolled out Crompton a couple of times and they were all to his left. Stupid.

Also where was the play action pass last night? A bootleg would have been nice if our O-line could give him a little time. Clawson also abandoned the run. We would run for 4 yards on 1st down, have a 2nd and 6 and he would throw it 2 more times usually to no avail. I don't know but I thought 4+4+4=12? I thought Clawson was timid and tried to do to much at times. He called plays like any run less than 6 yards was a failure, and forced us to pass. Ridiculolus.

On defense I thought the pass rush was absolutely awful especially considering the caliber of O-line we were facing. The run defense was good, but should have been going against that group. The thing that pissed me off the most was that Chavis was playing the Safeties way too deep against that offense. Also our CB's were giving way too much cushion, especially on third and short. Just like last year. Other than Mckenzie's INT the LB's pass coverage was awful. They flat out looked lost most of the time. And that is very dissappointing seeing how 3 of the guys in the rotation are former DB's. The defense played good until the 4th quarter which happened a lot last year as well. Very concerning.

Overall the only guys who I thought played decent were Hardesty, Berry, G Jones, Dan Williams, Fisher, Bolden (at times), Morley, K Cooper.

The offensive line was awful and had no discipline. McNeil got torn up all game. He is too small. Crompton didn't play well either but its hard to get into a rythm with shotty protection and eratic play calling. Clawson is not utilizing JC strengths at all. Let him run and create a little more! Also Hardesty showed why he was ahead of Foster before he got hurt in 2005. He is a very good back when healthy, takes care of the ball, and hits the hold hard. Most complete back on the team right now.

Good write up. I don't understand the 41 throws when our running game was working... and the soft coverage on D in the fourth quarter. How much are we paying the coaching staff for these decisions?

I don't know but its definitely too much. Its like they don't learn anything from their mistakes. They are so set in their ways they are convinced that if we execute, whatever they call will work. Not true at all. They game has changed and will continue to do so. I thought the defense played very well for the most part until the end. And a lot of that wasn't their fault. Chavis simply got out coached, schemed. The offense didn't execute quite so well but would have had some more success if they had. Still I didn't like a lot of the play calling, and Clawson was asking some guys to do some things that are not their strengths. Crompton, Rogers, Briscoe, Warren all come to mind. Clawson's philosophy conflicts itself imo. He says he wants to be able to run any play from any formation with any personel, yet at the same time he says his offense is made to get our best playmakers matched up with the other teams worst players. You can't have that both ways...
