I'm curious, do you know if the four games have to be in the first four games of the year? Do they have to be continuous, like the games 1-4 or 1,2, 6, 10?
Not for sure but I think it means they can *appear* in 4 games. So if you’re going to do it it seems prudent to make sure he’s ready to play a full game. You wouldn’t want to waste an “appearance” on a couple of punt coverages.

It's definitely a fine line he has to walk. Sacrifice this season for long term benefits and having the fans check out early or play who gives you the best chance to win and maybe win a game or two you might not with the youngins. Frankly I don't think it matters, don't see the win total being affected one way or the other.

I think they're going to play all the young guys they can, as much as they can, as soon as they can. When the older guys are making the same mistakes as the young ones, might as well go for the upside. I wish the schedule set up better this year, but it is what it is.

A lot of people project realistic expectations as negativity.

JJ hasn’t been working out and has had a hard time getting through his coursework. It’s going to be a tough adjustment given he will have to get in shape, acclimate to his classes and then learn the defensive system.

It’s why when he got in I said he’s very likely to be a 4 game redshirt (unless he comes in and blows away all expectations.) It’s not the end of the world. He can be a difference maker for us in November. Maybe even sooner!
That's a realistic expectation and pretty much what I've been thinking all summer.

TBF though, that is not what Nick said. He said he may turn out good like Travis Henry but he's gonna go ahead and call him as a Chris Donald type bust early. Not sure why he felt the need to make such an early hot take call like that but that's his right. Maybe it was a joke or something else, but I don't really blame people for calling that out as premature negativity when he's been here for what 3 days or something. You guys like to call people out for watching short practice videos and getting excited, but no problems with looking at a picture of his first practice without pads and immediately thinking he's gonna be a fat bust. Hypocritical IMO.

I was bullish on UT beating Florida early on, but the WV has me shaky on that for now. Need to see better play these next two weeks and I want to see how Florida does vs. KY.

This is what I'm waiting to see. I'm not ready to crown UF winners of anything based on their first game against cupcake U. They won as many games as UT last season.

All of this crazy talk about being cursed needs to stop. We are not any more cursed than anyone else. Injuries happen to every program. We had a conditioning program and practice schedule that it does now seem had an adverse effect on the number of injuries we had under Butch. That has been remediated. Let's hope our players don't have this same attitude because they may let up and that is when you get hurt. I am sure that the staff will be sure to address it. We don't need any more dang self-fulfilling prophecies about how frankin' unlucky we are. Let's just keep making our own breaks and, for now, we just have to put on more steam. GBO.

Speaking of curses, how many virgins did you have to sacrifice to get the Cubs a WS?

None...why do you ask?

Just an opinion based on some observations. No point in really discussing it much. It’s admittedly wildly speculative. Could be 100% wrong and thrilled about it. Maybe, maybe not. Variety and opinions make message boards interesting.

I’ve said many times I didn’t like Barnett coming out of HS, but also have been right at times. I’m comfortable with being wrong. I’m married and have a teenage son.

That's fair. I don't agree with it but I wasn't commenting on yer hot take really. More about the reaction. You knew when you said it people were gonna call it out as premature. I think questioning yer point was fair. I was calling out acting like it was unfair to question yer prediction. Like hot takes are to be accepted without critique for some reason. Hot takes like that are intended to get a response IMO. Otherwise why put yourself out there like that.

Not attacking Nick. He and I seem to be forum buddies. I think he’s pretty smart.

Just saying, in general, “fans” seem to take the absence of positivity as negativity.

I totally get it. We're all fans here. If I say Tim Jordan is going to make us forget John Kelly by mid-season, I'll stack up "likes" and high fives all around. Throw out a negative theoretical without anything substantial, and people get riled up. I do it too, I'm sure.

So... Tim Jordan is going to make us forget John Kelly by mid-season.

Yeah, I didn't take it that way. We're cool.

I think I'm generally positive, though I strive to be objective. My statement was a bit out of my norm, but I just thought I'd throw it out into the wind.

I believe I'm very objective, but not viewed that way.

I wasn't saying you were attacking Nick. Was commenting on you saying others were taking it as negative because it wasn't positive. I didn't really agree with that part.

Such is the case, when others objectively disagree.

I find you generally somewhat negative... then I see Tennessee football, and

See, I really don't see how anyone can objectively think I'm just negative for the sake of being negative after not one, but two coaches. Not like I go around I told you so'ing everyone like chief.

For instance, outside of my initial reaction to Pruitt being hired, I've been pretty positive about him.

Then again, I've always found you to be one of the bigger sunshine pumpers ha.

People with positive takes get riled up responses too. And negative statements get likes and high fives from that crowd too. It goes both way and that's fine. There is this myth here that only negative opinions get attacked though. I caught a lot of flack for saying JG had a chance to be vastly improved this season and win the job. My football intelligence was questioned and I was called a fanboy. Probably called a doo doo or an inflator a few times as well for saying we have a chance to be good. That's all fine. Doesn't bother me. Just pointing out that it goes both ways. Maybe I should've done the tried and true "I tried to tell y'all JG would start and play pretty good but everyone attacked me." post that a lot of the less than positive posters like to do. Not accusing you of that. But that happens a lot. How many times did someone say "I tried to tell you guys we were gonna suck this year but everyone attacked me for being a negavol" or something along those lines in the past 5 days? Over/under 43.5?

Positivity and negativity is a spectrum. Changing variables-- W/L, injuries, players improving, players not improving, etc.-- all move the needle. Expect big swings between now and the UGA game.

Wonder if it'll be a ghost town in here after the 5 game stretch
