I know obv the Goal is to win every game but there’s no way they felt Uber confident going into that game just off matchups alone. It’s a non conference game and week 1 so it’s really not a huge deal that we lost that game.
My main concern is our d line/pass rush. We're paper thin there. I think Pruitt will get some of these young secondary guys coached up in time, but if we don't have a pass rush we might be in trouble.

A win would have been all on coaching. Just not there yet. D will get better.

Good news, '19 OOC schedule sets up nicely.

Let me make this simple for you. I take nothing about Jeremy Pruitt's coaching from the game Saturday. Is that plain enough for you. I don't know why you feel the need to ride in on your white horse and want to joust with anyone that says anything YOU determine to be a slap. I don't know if your blinded by your perceived role as "keeper of the sunshine" or you truly just can't comprehend a post. I have to admit that it is unbelievable how you can lump everyone in their proper baskets according to YOUR criteria. You freak out worse when someone questions anything than the ones that want to fire Pruitt after game one. Think about that.
You’re generalizing and exaggerating...quite the double threat. Keeper of the Sunshine is a pretty good line. Best of luck in your new self hating defeatist persona.

Corner is the most overrated position on defense imo. Their best skill is how good their pass rush is. I’m not worried about our corners. I’m worried about being able to pressure QBs. Specifically in a game like Missouri where we have the talent to win but we absolutely have to get Locke on the ground and uncomfortable

I can't believe you're can't get that "Probably not ready for the job" means failure. All it means is it would have been nice if he would have had a little more experice under his belt before he took on this sh!t show of a program.

What does UCLA and chip Kelly have to do with TN other than they're both American universities?

Probably not ready for the job doesn’t exude confidence. Not saying you should say he’s going to kill it. Your statement implies he should fail and is negative regardless how you want to slice it. I can’t say probably fail or succeed. That is wait and see. You may be waiting to see but you think it’s more likely he will fail. I tend to think with God’s help, I can overcome adversity and tend to be optimistic with teams I follow but try to stay in reality. I know he might fail but expect him to succeed till he doesn’t.

Games get away from you sometimes. It’s not the end of the world. Miami got dominated last night by LSU. We’re they outclassed?
Apples to oranges though.

Miami lost that game and it wouldn’t surprise anyone if they still won their division in the ACC (or competed for it anyway).

Tennessee will very likely have to beat a team better than them to make a bowl game. WVU presented one of those opportunities.

The margins are much slimmer - that’s why everyone is disappointed. Not “outraged.” Not “out on Pruitt.” Just disappointed that we weren’t really close with a team many of us thought we could compete with.

RBs - 1 combined start
OL - C and LG never started a game in college and LT barely practiced
TEs - 0 starts
DL - 1 guy making first start
LB - Kirkland first game in 20 month s I believe VQ said
DBs - 3 true freshman playing heavy snaps or starting.

When I take the names out that I associate with recruiting stars and hype/potential. I don't really know why I was so confident.

I think he called that defensive game thinking he had Alabama players. Lots of blitzes and relying on one on one situations were one guy has to make a play. I think he’ll dial it back a bit going forward and it could be very beneficial.

No he won’t. His way works and they will learn and do it or he will get someone who will. Difference is I think he can identify it. Heck, we can identify our incumbents don’t have it. But it takes a lot of reps and live game reps. Have two games to help get it down even more.

It’s really not apples to oranges. It’s an out of conference game in week 1. People really underrated WVU. We were expecting some soft finesse team and they were really physical and fast. I loved what i saw from our coaches as far as scheme and concepts. We were really creative on both sides.

Hell the biggest thing we’re composing a lot on offense a draw call on a 3rd and 4. Lol. How refreshing is that.

Where we get it wrong is thinking it will be a quick fix, that in a couple years we will be back on top. Fulmer did not get to the NC until he had been HC for 6.5 years and he started with a good roster and less competition. But he faced tough internal adversity for years. I believe CJP can get there and may even be able to be better than Phil. But he needs time to build his system and roster. He's fighting through adversity there and with the fan base expectations after a decade of yuck. Then they have to learn how to win against stiff competition. Several programs are throwing money at their facilities and are getting more aggressive in recruiting. I admire CJP for taking the job. It's not the easiest situation to walk into and turn around.

WVU will not have success with teams that can pass rush

I apologize for sounding negative. All the game did for me is realize how far we've got to go. Has nothing to do with with coach.

There were many positives from the game that we can build on. Ive tried to point those out but for some reason those things haven't gotten much attention. 😂

We do have a long way to go.

And what teams are those? We have some pretty good guys in on the interior. Their Oline played very well. Go look at their schedule.. outside of TCU and Oklahoma is there a game they won’t be favored in?

I wouldn't go that far. Pass rush helps hide bad corners. Without a pass rush better have some dang good corners. We haven't had either. Having corners you can trust to play man allows you to bring more pressure. They all go hand in hand.

Oh I agree, I just think if they played a real defense theyd get destroyed. Fortunately for them they dont besides those two teams who will light them up.

Not just a pass rush. Their tackles are solid, and Grier can spot the blitz. A team will also need some good, physical corners that can win individual matchups. A team that can get just a few stops and can outscore WV can beat them. I would say the last 3 teams on their schedule are probably the only ones that can do it- TCU, OSU, and OU.

Pruiit out here voluntarily brings up what he feels like was a critical coaching error in not letting More time run down in last punt before half.

Meanwhile butch looking at his response chart to see where accepting blame is at vs blaming players or calling people stupid.

Pruitt def gets the part of don't trash your team in public. Rip them in the locker room but not to the media.
